I'm seriously considering buying my first Xbox 360 soon. (I could buy one now but I'm waiting for the announcement on 21st May, to see if those rumours regarding a new cheaper 360 are true)

I'm only doing this because (as a PS3 owner) I can't put off the Witcher 2 any longer. ;)

Below are some RPGs that I'm definitely going to buy.

    Witcher 2
    Tales of Vesperia
Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga

Are there any other 360 exclusives that I should be looking into?

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey off the top of my hat. 2 Mistwalker RPG's that are certainly worth it imo.

    Lost Odyssey.

If anyone tries to convince you to play Blue Dragon, ignore their advice. They are clearly insane.

Enchanted Arms is quite good. Some bits of it are admittedly JRPG by numbers, but the combat is pretty good with scope for smart tactics, and the story is quite good in some places. Should be cheap as chips by now, too.

I wouldn't buy it just for exclusive RPGs. It's got lots of great RPGs, but most aren't exclusive.

However, Lost Odyssey is a great JRPG. Old-school, but still great.

Enchanted Arms is on the PS3 as well (although the port was absolutely atrocious).

Infinite Undiscovery is... okay. Ish. Although not really.

The Last Remnant has a great combat system, although there's a massively superior PC version with lots of gameplay tweaks and none of the horrible technical issues.

I can't imagine anybody willingly played the PS3 version anyway. Look at it FFS!

Lost Odyssey is brilliant. Gutted I didn't complete it (disk 4 bug).

I borrowed a disc 4 for precisely that reason.

Anyway, LO is actually pretty good. Blue Dragon is hard to get into but not bad once you get there. Infinite Undiscovery is disc-based dog-turd.

I think it was decent for when it came out. I started it up again not too long ago, and its dated already, so, yeah, ok ish probably sums it up. It does have certain charms, but really, only worth picking up if seen really cheap. Not paying much can endear you more to a title.

Now, you want to talk a JRPG I couldn't play? Star Ocean The Last Hope. Dialog/voice acting are especially bad. I still own it, fuck knows why. Maybe in case I get a lobotomy and am looking for something that'll make me feel smart.

I sent blerk my disc 4 but ever since then my disc 2 never worked. Coincidence?

I'm perplexed at the lack of Fable love.
  • Deleted user 29 April 2013 19:41:08
Lexx convinced me to buy Tales of Vesperia but I never really got on with it. Nothing wrong with it at all, it just never gelled with me for whatever reason.

Oh, talking of Lexx, I still have his copy of Nier, that's well worth checking out too.

Because it was pretty shite? 1 was ok but on original Xbox, 2 was so-so and never played 3. I've never been so disappointed with an RPG after all the HYPE that PM ladled onto it.

    I obviously disagree.

That's cool, I just don't see how Fable can be seen as a RPG. Most of my time in Fable 2 was spent farting on townsfolk and the like.
  • Deleted user 29 April 2013 19:48:29
1 was great, 2 was average at best, 3 was just plain bad. They need to let it die.

Fable 2 was basically just one again- the main story had so many similarities, it just felt lazy to me and still wasn't the game that the original was promised to be.

Always found the Fable games to be more action adventure with a few RPG elements in them.

3 was a mess but a new team could improve it.

RPG 'exclusives' on 360 are few and far between. Who thought Witcher 2 deemed itself a 360 exclusive?

What few there are are generally poor given the bias towards PS3 from Japanese devs who traditionally make RPGs.

I'd kill for that Studio Ghibli/Studio 5 game to make it over to 360 but it ain't going to happen :(

@Malignant - Don't listen to them - Fable is great.

Fable 3 isn't as good as 2, but still worth playing.

That's all I have to say about that.

Not after the bad falling out they had with MS over True Fantasy Live Online.

The original Fable is great :) But not a X360 exclusive seeing as it was released on Xbox ;)

Fable 2 is a good game. Don't let the hype wank of 6 years ago ruin it for you.
