No unfortunately, CoD definitely needs it though, connection is a huge deal in CoD games. I doubt it'll happen as it costs too much to have a dedicated server, so they will just shut it down when the next CoD comes out :/.

Looks good, tad disappointed that the destruction seems scripted/baked.

I'm not really a proper CoD player, but I'm kinda looking forward to it after watching this. I do have some worries though, I feel it could be unbalanced as that it's always a problem in CoD games, especially in the IW ones. Secondly...the maps will more than likely be poor, MW3's were a joke, they should just leave it to Treyach to make them. Lastly, it could be over-complicated, soo many perks, streaks, ect. It's not a good thing, look at how better CoD4 was compared to MW2, keep it simple you can still have variation.

    @Nades

MW3 maps (and the pre-patch spawn system) were designed with anti-camping in mind, in answer to the camping complaints but that just lead to being shot in the back, group camping to cover all exits and auto-flanking spawns. BOII has this to a (much) lesser extent.

If Ghosts turns out to have interesting concepts but failed execution we can wait for the inevitably better 3arc effort.

They should never of got ridden of static spawns, why is it such a horrible thing that the BETTER team is spawn killing the worse team? These new spawns are rewarding the bad players too much, as if CoD doesn't do it enough already.

I don't know if you've been in a spawn trap where you die the second you spawn but it's not fun.

The new spawns aren't rewarding bad players but to stop people camping, the problem is that the spawns FOLLOW you when you're moving which leads to auto-flanking.

I guess so, there must be a better way to make the spawns, although if it means huge maps, I'd rather what we have now.

Maybe not too much of an emphasis on anti-camping for the spawn system and maps, I don't camping as long as it's counterable like BO1.

The thing with MW2 was that you could camp really hard with OMA, Scavenger etc., the thing with BO1 was that people got pissed when you stopped their killstreak.

To be honest I don't see how hard it is to make a map. Seriously, how hard can it be to make good maps? They did it in CoD4, so what is it now days, that prevents them from doing so?

Although the last one I played was MW2 I think they started to overdesign them. Not sure if it's the same with later releases, but CoD4 and earlier worked because maps generally had a CQC area, an open area, and a mid range area, a few chokepoints from each of these areas, and generally 2 main floors - ground, raised, and a few rooftops.

MW2 shit the bed in that regard, ridiculously over complex designs (like that quarry map) that just meant 90% of the kills were from being shot in the back.

Pretty sure CoD's never had static spawns. The first one didn't anyway.

Maybe MW3 maps have left a bad taste in your mouth but MW2, BO1 and BO2 had some good maps, a chunk of them anyway. They have gotten a whole lot smaller though.

For better map design, they should allow some camping. In MW3, buildings have usually 3 or 4 entries, in previous games it was usually 1 or 2 and when you're being shot at in MW3 there are no corners to hide behind since it's blocked by junk most of the time whereas in previous CODs there was some place to hide behind to recover like notches or walls.

I think BO1 had it almost perfect, maybe the addition of MMS/wallbanging equipment would've helped. And Scavenger for the Strela 3.

Maps have progressively been filled with more shit to hide behind (COD term 'headglitch') and it has made the game progressively become more campy. Add to that the increased reliance on mental killstreaks, and defensive measures such as claymore, betties, shock charges, etc, etc, and it has progressively got more shit.

You can counter Betty's, claymores and shock charges in BO2 by simply having a EMP grenade and engineer class - maybe chuck in a C4 in there.

I hear people RAGING about 'campers' in CoD all the time - I don't mind a spot of camping myself, but it's easy to counter it if you want too.

    Hated, adored, never ignored.

True, but having to do that, having to use certain classes to avoid camping and other things is just shit.
Tbh it doesn't really bother me as I'm good enough at the game, I'll just not be getting this as it's gotten boring. First one I won't have day one since mw2. lol
Really looking forward to BF4 and KillZone.

BF4 ok but Killzone? It looks like a very pretty but generic shooter.

KZ3 was pretty shit, and actually they went the COD way, taking a great game and adding like 10 annoying things to it.
KZ2 is my favourite online shooter though, and I'm hoping it'll go back to those roots. Could go either way though.
BF4 it's bound to be epic though.

Well that gameplay video looked like ..............ALL the cod game before it

I remember playing the first cod on PC when it released and its extremely sad to see the general mechanics and feel not the game have never changed. I guess cod is for people who would love to eat the same food everyday for 10 years and love it.

Next gen is upon us but it's comforting to know the same repetition shall continue

That other Big MP shooter hasn't really developed beyond it last iteration either as it?
  • Deleted user 15 August 2013 11:13:27
I'm hoping with cranked mode being available for juiced up kids, that the actual game will be a tad slower in its normal modes.

    @joelstinton

Ah yes the usual comparison to battlefield. Why anyone tries to compare a corridor shooter to wide open gameplay with vehicles is beyond me. Its like comparing ping pong to snooker.

Its not hard to develop fatigue over a game that never tries to improve for fear that 12 year olds won't buy it.

Personally I don't mind cod apart from the repetition. I do agtree that battlefield 4 has arrived quicker than needed and no doubt suffers an expansion pack feeling but that's what happens when your publisher is ea.

With BF4 there has been quite a few changes, its just that you have to hunt for the details.

I'm interested in the new squads mode, either you and your friends or AI squad against other people's squads. Then have your squad defend maps and mode of your choice. All gaining XP whilst you are offline. Bit like FPS version of your pawns from Dragon Dogma.

Each game is for different sections of the FPS crowd and offers something for everyone

So will bots be available in custom games again?

I only play online in custom games with my friends and some bots to flesh it out a bit.

    Extended MP Gameplay

The map size seems to be bigger in the last video.

Really liking the look of the sniping, especially with this different look when in scope.

Still have worries though, I would be pleasantly surprised if they manage to keep it balanced, it looks like they over complicating it a little, like it MW2 & 3. I also worry about the maps, I would rather all remakes of good old maps, if they are gonna be anything like the MW3 maps.
