Aye. The only way I got the WC was chucking my mate who enjoyed it (somehow) the house keys and buggering off to work.

@Ror1984 I've never been to Distant Worlds. Not sure who I know that I'd be able to persuade to go to that, although I'd imagine the music wouldn't be any less lovely if you knew nothing about the source.

I wonder if they'll be changing anything of the content as well the new presentation, perhaps build on that 10 is a prequel to 7 nonsense and tie it in to the inevitable 7 remake.

What are you talking about, they are optional bosses and about 20x more difficult to kill than even the rare monster arena spawns.

Fuck putting the work in, they should be killable ass soon as you leave Besaid I agree.
I'm saying they should be at your level when they you are at the end of the game or fairly close. Spending whole sessions grinding is a mugs game, frankly. When a game gets to the point where it feels like monotonous work it's failed its job as entertainment.

@santashi Oh that's a shame. I imagine anyone who enjoys music and a bit of spectacle would enjoy it, though. Last year's performance was the first one I've been to, and I was one of a group of six; five big FF fans and one who is fairly ambivalent to the series. He absolutely loved it.

Here's To Zanarkand from that show if you want to watch, and there are a few more videos from that night on that channel if you're interested.

Complaining about grinding for optional bosses in a FF game is utter nonsense.

You play the game to get in the same range as the final boss not the super hard, secret, entirely optional ones.

It's a perfectly valid thing to do but whatever works for you. As mentioned earlier, I don't have the spare time to waste with it.

Anyhow, bring this on, persona 4 won't last forever :D

    For the emperor!

Well, it was me basically saying I don't agree with you but I'm happy to leave you to that viewpoint, everyone's different and all that. If you're set on having an pointless argument about it, fire away.

I am so amped for this. FFX is the only mainline Final Fantasy game I ever beat, and it's one of my favorite games of all time. Didn't care for X-2, though.

Have time to kill? Read my shitty game blog: http://kingpiccolo08.wordpress.com/.

Just a thought - seeing as we're getting the International versions, does that mean we'll get Eternal Calm?

EDIT - Oh, and also - going by the trailer, does anyone else think that X-2 has been hastily tacked on and they haven't even started work on it yet? :p

Shopto currently has FFX HD Vita for preorder at 32.86 although that will hopefully go down. The placeholder boxart has the logos for both games but just says FFX in the description.

Edit: The PS3 game is down for the same price, by the way.

Actually I apologise, it has indeed been remastered with slightly higher models and textures. Looks alright!

You can see the texture difference quite clearly on the corset feathers, and also the curves on Lulu's boobs.

    Basically, HD boobs.

This was what I was waiting for when the Vita was first announced. Having waited so long, I'm not so sure now I want to re-plough all my hours of the original X and X-2 into a Vita version, even with the lure of HD boobs....

Actually, let me think about it a little more first...

It does look like they have put some work into it. Actually don't think I expected it to look that much better, so I'm happy.

Top shot looks like the 4:3 version stretched to widescreen. Many a gaming memory of playing PS2 games in fatscreen.

Me neither, though I have a copy. I think I played the first 20 minutes just to see what it was like, intending to go back and start over. I never did! Looking forward to going back through X (might even finish the Celestial Weapons this time!) and then getting onto X-2. I hope there's crossplay saving too, I want to play between Vita and PS3.

It's definitely a game where cross-saving would make a great deal of sense. I might just stick with the Vita version though for convenience.

I'm looking forward to endlessly humming the music. :p

I'm going to buy both games on Vita and the double-pack on PS3. Because I am an absolute sucker. I'll then have three boxed versions of each game and a deep, repressed sense of shame.

I love X's OST. I have the four-disc set. I only know the opening song for X-2 though, and I fear that game's soundtrack won't be quite as good as X's...

X-2 is decent as long as you skip as many cutscenes as possible. Good battle system but everything else is just cringe-inducing.

Your fears are justified, FFX-2 has a different composer (X was Nobou's last full game as composer) and the music is awful. There's only a few tracks in the whole game that are any good, the rest has you scrambling for the mute button.

Despite all this X-2 bashing, my original save file was 83 hours :| Still pales in comparison to my 230 hour FFX save though.

@Futaba I figured as much! As I say, I only know the opening song, but I have a high tolerance for cheese and melodrama (I absolutely adored Star Ocean: TLH, for instance...), so I reckon I'll be fine. It does look so very removed from the tone of FFX though.

To be honest I had more fun with X-2 than X, and not just because of the original's awful PAL conversion (looking forward to playing a non-squished full-speed version on the Vita). I preferred X-2's lighthearted approach and mission based structure, which also made perfect sense from a narrative standpoint because, well, the world is already safe.

On the other hand, I probably spent twice as much time on X, with only a couple of the more annoying mini-games (damn butterflies!) and Dark Aeons (didn't feel like investing in a turbo controller for Ironclad farming) left unfinished. I still think that the expert sphere board is the most elegant system of character progression ever developed, and really would have liked to see it in more games.

@Futaba Will do! It's probably going to be quite a wait for a verdict though! I hope we get a date for this at E3, it's one of the reasons I bought a Vita.

Me too, though it'll be a bit strange not to see Tidus running as if he's bounding across the surface of the moon.
