    ...and inspired by me picking up the Cracker box set in the HMV meltdown. So, things you remember fondly but should never revisit, and alternatively things which still stand up today.

    The Bad:

    Cracker.

    If you have fond memories of it, never, ever watch 'Automan' as an adult. It is worse than you can possible imagine.

    The Black Hole scared me to pieces when I was young. I wouldn't go back even if it was amazing.

    Still love New Order. They've gone to shit over the last, oh, decade and a half or so, but most of the old stuff holds up.

    Oh man, Macguyver. I watched that with French rubbing a few days ago. It was doubly awesome, so much so that I'd watched 5 episodes back-to-back before I realised what time it was.

    The Macguyver episode where ants ate his friend was awesomely scary at the time. I suspect it won't look as good if I revisit it though.

    Anyway, Macguyver recruited a cute little ethnic kid to needlessly put in danger for pretty much all the episodes i watched.

    I watched the first ever episode of Red Dwarf a few months ago. A lot of it does date it terribly but actually there was a lot of good there. The writing was incredibly tight. It set up all the rules for the series and set up the situation in 20 minutes, which included explaining what the ship was, what the characters positon in things were, the what and why of holograms. etc. There was a lot of explaining to do, it wasn't just "bloke lives with woman but they're not in a relationship....or are they!?!" That kind of stuff would get dragged out over episodes these days.

    Didn't bother watching the other episodes though.

    I think Red Dwarf stands up today to be honest. Still gets a laugh out of my and series 3-6 in particular are wonderful.

    We revisited some of the first two seasons recently. I think you need to check them, shonky acting, paper thin non-jokes getting whooping uncontrolled (canned) laughter, paper thin plots that go nowehere and that particular 90s charm that looks terrible now, laid on with a trowel.

    Dunno, there was a repeat on the other day and i decided to make the mrs watch it as she never had.

    by the end of it i was kinda embarassed that i'd told her it was amazing. Can't remember what series it was though.

    Tbh, the basic sit-com-with-a-laughter track has aged. I remember when IT Crowd started, and remembered feeling it had an dated style to it, even then. The Office totally fucked up sitcoms for ever.
