Registered 8 years agoActually still think BHS are likely but I'm going to change my prediction to...Laura Ashley.
They changed their returns policy last year, nobody answers them when you call the main number (at all) and they've constantly got sales these days. More often than DFS. They'll be next. -

They probably only have to sell two miniatures a month to cover the rent.

Plus Dave and George's wonderful recovry plan will bring about 100% employment again resulting in no more need for bloody payday loan sharks... I meant pay day loan shops.

No actually it was for curtains and wallpaper in one of their aforementioned sales. We had problems with them.
If you Google Laura Ashley you get shitloads of people complaining, more than any company I've ever seen, about the quality of their product. Chairs coming with the material not meeting at the back. Sofa's collapsing within a few days. "washable" material coming off with a damp cloth. They're still charging premium prices but seemingly getting the product made on the cheap. They won't be around long. -

or WH Smiths. Yes, I know they're all over the place but their main stock of trade (especially at the smaller airport/railway outlets) are books, magazines and newspapers. Aka all the things that will end up on digital distribution via tablets and phones within the next few years.
Also, all those bus/train/airport outlets... they don't own them and the rent is much higher there than on the high street.
Not sure how Sock Shop is still alive however. Or tie rack. -

Tried to buy a couple of 500ml soft drinks and stood at the counter 4 people were behind and it took them over a minute to notice me. I was just about to put them back and walk out. -

Plus charities tend to have some rather attractive tax breaks on their side.
