Registered 6 months agoAs we are now aware of possible hurdles with the wii u cpu, how about discussing clever methods around it? With the gpu being so strong, we could partition a segment of the 32mb of gpu ram as 'cache' and blitz this data with the gpu...for example, we know the 360 and ps3 have cache amounts for their cpus, i think the 360 contains 1mb of cache for the entire cpu...we could shave 8Mb from wii u gpu to deal with computationally complex data like physics thereby relieving the cpu of this particular drain...it also works out at 700% more cache than 360 If we treat the data as 'cache' and let the main cpu direct these operations similar to ppe in Ps3 directing spe's...also this could prove very fortituous as this 'cache' is scaleale and the nature of gpus is that they do things in parallel...any suggestions and responses welcome. -

Registered 3 years agoWell, what we could do instead is transfer the 8Mb buffer to front side CPU scaling algorithms. Not only would this give significant processor burst but we could then also use it to power an additional Flux Capacitor, fire it up to 88 MHz and send this piece of shit back to 2007 where it belongs. -

Registered 8 years agoI read somewhere (EG) that, because of the architecture, it's not as simple as comparing the 1.24GHz directly against another different type of processor like the one in the 360 at 3.2GHz. It's an out of order design, which means nothing to me without further googling which I can't be bothered with.
So I bet the WiiU CPU is actually more like a 1.4GHz, when utilised properly. That makes all the difference
Edited by DFawkes at 23:58:49 10-12-2012Kirby is the man! Even if he wasn't, he'd just ingest and become one.

Registered 7 years agoIt's amusing to imagine Wii U developers post on gaming message boards for ideas on optimisation to unlock the true power of the Wii U.
Hey guys! Our game averages at 15FPS, I know Nintendo would never gyp us with underpowered hardware, so we're being silly billies and overlooking something obvious, any ideas?
Er... Have you tried shifting the NAND overloop to full giga processing mode? Um... Quantum flux capacitor, pork-rind underbelly, simulation matrix...
Has the Wii U got Blast Processing?
You should definitely use that.

I'll try that later, but first I'm going to try wrapping it in a towel and leaving it turned on in a sauna for 3 days - I think that might transmute the electrons in the ram to a higher state, making all these theories needless. -
Have you tried posting this on MiiVerse?
