Ok. This Xmas will see my household Vita count swelled to three.

All I am about to ruminate on concerns 2 vitas. I know the third will be out of luck.

I am aware that games I have bought as jonsaan on PSN can be played on one other activated Vita.

Because the Vita is locked to one account, then whenever one jonsaan went online the other jonsaan would get bumped off. Ad hoc stuff would be fine, just like it was using multiple psps.

But here's my question. If I set one of the new vitas up under a new psn id but activate the device to my jonsaan account (on a PC), can I copy content to it and play it under the new psn ID?

Or can you only activate a device to jonsaan's psn account by logging in as jonsaan on the device itself?

I'd say the later unfortunately. I think Sony have learnt from the old gamesharing of psn accounts that one account was the way to go..

    Not 100% though..I'm often wrong..

    Psn - Emperorzaphod
    Steam - Emperorzaphod
    Wii U - sirzapalot

I think so too in all honesty. Given the constantly online nature of the vita I can see it being a total mare being booted off PSN all the time.

You couldn't activate the new one if it's already registered on two others, and as you'd need to activate it to copy over, nuh-huh.

And the copied stuff will only work if it's active with your jonsaan id. Won't work with any other id.

Oh man. It kind of makes 2 vita activations totally pointless. I suppose it's ok for adhoc.....

The really disappointing thing about this is that you absolutely can do it on 2 activated PS3s. You simply download the content as jonsaan, then go online with a sub account. Why they couldn't just do it the same is beyond me.

I may no buy the kids Vitas now based on this. It also means that sharing all the psp content will become problematic if we are all using the jonsaan PSN account.

Given that the pack in games are all download and account locked it becomes a major problem.

Yeah it is pretty mean of Sony, guess they struggle selling most people one vita - bet they never thought of someone with three! ( also surely a top 10 first-world-problem?)

Have a read of this. Might solve the issue.

@jonsaan Or this one, slightly more appropriate.

It's possible that you could upload your games to pc using content manager and then put them onto the other Vita's - seen this on a web page so not sure how much truth there is in it. Suppose you are just going to have to try a couple of options!

Which'll still need authentication with the jonsaan PSN id, which can only be on two machines.....
Tried putting US account stuff on ages ago, and it won't copy via PS3 because both need to be signed in to the same PSN id. PC might allow you to copy it (though I'd be surprised), but it'll certainly notify you that it isn't available when you try to start it as the owners don't match.

The old methods of PS3/PSP sharing led to the reduction of activations, and the one profile Vita. I'm only being insistent because I'd hate to see you waste the money. Can't even share content with master/sub accounts either !

Ah, thanks for that OSS. I was sitting here wondering about the sub account option.

My kids are really set on having their own PSN IDs (having talked this over with them), so I might just go with all new accounts and a couple more PSplus accounts. My wallet is crying. They only really want to play LBP right now anyway so if I get the packs that come with that it at least gives me a way forward.

How many PSP's did you have ? No option to continue with them, or have they exhausted the catalogue ?

Well done jonsaan, you apparently own a significant percentage of the worldwide Vita install base. ;)

@jonsaan It's it top condition, I still have most of the original protective bags. Just wrap it up particularly well! ;)
