I'd love this - I can imagine it would really help sales too as people with a PS4/XBOne will be facing a fairly limited library for the first few months.

It sure beats my idea of cutting a slot in the side of a bucket and making a PRAISE THE SUN knight costume

How apt. I'm getting my kit ready to go on a 4 day larp today, and watching that has put me right in the mood!

Hope, this hasn't been posted already.

    @quad Enjoy your LARP - it's a Dark Souls themed LARP, right? ; )
Don't link the fire. No pyrotechnics!

It'd be cool if it was but its just standard. They'll be plenty of bonfires and hopefully no smegging blighttown :p

I downloaded a ticket yesterday, I guess I need to wait now and see if a big pox ridden finger comes down from the sky to say "IT'S YOU!"
I guess they're going to pick a range of testers, some with very middle ground connections and some with bizarre 14.4k satellite-to-the-arctic ones. Fingers crossed!

I'm surprised the article on the front page didn't mention the collectors edition. I'm willing to bet that the statue will be overpriced rubbish but I want it all the same!

Any word on where to get it? I'm hoping it's not a GAME exclusive in this country.

    For the emperor!

I like the look of the collectors edition. I don't bother with most other games, but I love the art book and the soundtrack.
The action figure is probably abit pointless, ill just keep it in my car, theres plenty of spiders and stuff it can battle.

I also want to get that expensive artbook for Dark Souls 1

A few details from Metro GC - I'll put them in spoilers as they explain some of the new mechanics in the game - nothing major though...

As it’s Tokyo Game Show week a few new gameplay details have been revealed, including the fact that players are able to help out others in co-op mode for more than just a single boss battle. Exactly how long you can call on help depends on your White Soapstone item, which depletes the more allies you summon.

You can also call for help if you’re invaded by an attacking player who means to kill you, or rather you can if you’re part of the new Way of the Blue covenant. As a balance to that you can be invaded even when you’re a hollow, despite you having to be human in the previous game.

Another change is that while you’re a hollow your maximum health will slowly decrease, as if you were cursed (which you are, essentially). You’ll now use a Human Effigy item to turn human again, rather than the Humanity resource from the last game.

No rest for the hollow's :D

ENB's put up a video with thoughts of his hands-on with the game.

Few interesting points (can be invaded when not 'human', Covenants seem more fleshed out, casting speed increased with Attunement, Bleed increased by dex etc etc).

Worth checking out, even if his voice annoys the hell out of me.

I really don't like the sound of those changes.

Less health in hollow form, like soul form in Demon's? That fucking sucks! There goes an item slot for the cling ring equivalent. Also, invasions while hollow? Oh great, I'll have to sign out of PSN every time I play like in Demon's.

I really hope they drop these changes :(

@Rhaegyr - Interesting stuff. I like the first spoilered paragraph. Sounds interesting and one thing I miss from the current way it's done

Whereas the 2nd and last paragraphs sound bad! :)

Yeah I really like the first part.

Don't get me wrong - my first playthrough of Dark/Demon's is always alone as I greedily want to experience it all myself and take my time. On subsequent playthrough's, however, I'd love to be able to do the entire thing with a friend or two, even if that means increasing enemy damage, defence and the like.

The last two paragraphs, whilst a bit worrying(!), give me faith that even though the original director is gone the whole philosophy of the series is still alive and well!

This is why I'm worried about always being able to be invaded.

Well if you want to eliminate the possibility of being invaded at any time, then play offline. It's no different to how people tackle affecting World Tendency in Demons Souls so it shouldn't be a new concept to existing players. If you really want to get poetic about it, I think it is perhaps more reflective on displaying the hollowing process of the undead. So when you're on the lowest possible level and you can't go on anymore, giving up on the game and ragequitting really means giving up and hollowing. I like it!

@Tuffty - I don't mind it if it's the games design. But have a read of that article Fanboyssuck has just linked

Seeing as Dark Souls 2 is going to have dedicated servers, then cheating/hacking should be less of an issue this time round. Even then, the game can be enjoyed by playing offline anyway.

DS one has been hacked but you'd assume (on console at least) that From Software have understood those issues and eliminated them in DS2 from the start. PC players is a completely different issue, and one which might not ever be stopped.

As to being invaded while Hollow: I haven't subscribed to XBL Gold for months, so thank MS my experience won't be disrupted because they put all their online services behind a pay wall :)

@Tuffty - True - I'm fine with dedicated servers and going offline to concentrate on something. That's how I play with demon's souls when doing world tendency events anyway.

I just hope it's bulletproof against actual hacks

I don't mind having more drawbacks to being undead, as long as they aren't permanent.

The hacking worries me, as I'll most likely be playing on pc.

@Tuffty I just see it as an extra faff that shouldn't be needed to be honest. killing yourself to stop invaders is easier than saving and quitting, logging out then loading your game again. Hopefully the game does have some kind of mechanic to stop invaders.

    For the emperor!
