Yup. All good so far. On the big screen as well as on the phone

Elop is effortlessly showing the camera and photos on the Galaxy S 4 and iPhone 5 look humiliating in comparison to the Lumia 1020.

... I guess they'll both have to step up sooner than later!

    Oh my God.

    The camera is absolutely brilliant!

... almost comparable to an entry level DSLR camera.

    I want.

But I don't want to give up my 920 for it...

    I can't use my next-gen fund for a second phone, can I..? ;_;

I shouldn't get too excited over a phone but the 1020 looks fantastic! Pricing is still gonna hurt I imagine, so must start formulating excuses (to the wife)!

499 and I might consider biting.

... I can just about excuse myself for that by selling my current Lumia phone as well as not buying either of the two new consoles later this year (neither interest me at present).

I have a snappy Sony point and shoot too; could pop that onto eBay!

That does look like a lovely phone. I should be able to upgrade in a couple of months and then it's goodbye 8X, hello 1020.

What's this about 300$? Sounds cheap to me But people on Google+ are crying as if Nokia had just forced a finish hockey player up their bum.

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

    @Tonka
Probably $300 up front on contract. The Yanks get shafted when it comes to mobiles.

@Nazo you're right. It was $300 plus two year contract. But it's that still so bad? Depends on the contract I guess.

On a two year contact. This is going to be an expensive one.

    Edit: Or what Tonka said.

Very tempted with this though, I've been close to buying the 808 numerous times over the last 6 months, it was just the low res screen that held me back.

Really hope the 1020 does well so other manufacturers take note. I have no interest in buying it because I'm an Android man, plus the other specs on the phone are underwhelming imo. But I would love a camera of that quality on my phone.

Windows Phone 8 doesn't need the kind of specifications you find in a top tier Android phone ... they are totally different beasts.

Getting a bit fed up with the 'teh specs are crap!' bobbins surrounding Windows Phone 8.

@CharlieStCloud To an extent I'll agree with you on processor/RAM- though this actually has a decent amount of RAM anyway. But the screen could realistically be improved, as could the build quality- hell it's a step back from the 925 in that sense. Plus while 32GB is pretty good I'd like a micro SD card slot for peace of mind. More than anything though the fact that very little other than the camera has changed in the last 3 flagship Lumia's just seems lazy. I know they all came out in fairly quick succession, but still. I want to see more improvements between models.

I believe 1080p screens will be available later this year (in October/November time) when GDR3 is released.

... although to be fair on Nokia going by your perfectly reasonable reply, it is Microsoft that are holding back the things you would like to appear on a Windows Phone 8.

Agreed on your issue regarding a microSD card slot; should be a mandatory feature when designing a phone nowadays, unless it offers 64GB, which is more than enough me thinks!

At least there is a 64GB option now.

Halo Spartan Assault is supposedly launching today. I think I'm going to get it on my Surface or laptop for now as I'll be able to play it across both. Microsoft really need to sort out the W8-WP8 app situation so I don't have to pay for it twice.

@Baihu1983 another perfect reason for windows phone not grabbing me. Why limit it to certain providers.

Got the new OS update there (on HTC 8X). I don't seem to have the Data Sense app, which was the only thing that looked useful about it.

Haven't tried out the radio, but at least it's there. Also some talk of improvements to Skype (but I don't use that, so couldn't tell you what the changes are like), and better HTML5 improvements in IE.

Data Sense is, annoyingly, dependent on your carrier. Who are you with?

Have you noticed any changes in Xbox Music? The Windows 8 version is SO much better on 8.1.

Spartan Assault should be launching at midnight, for some reason.

Annoyingly, I can reach it in the WP8 store (via the WPCentral app), but not in the Win 8 store.

EDIT - Oh, 5.49 by the way.

I'm on Virgin. I thought it would Data Sense would be in the App list but just not work, rather than not being there at all.

The update also seems to have freed up a few gigs of memory too, which is nice.

Got a Lumia 925 a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely love it so far. The camera is exceptional.

I've noticed the WiFi is a lot faster at starting up after the update, which is nice. Can't wait until the thing finally gets a rotation lock, mind. A really strange oversight not to have one.
