I donnow dude, what does a vp of product even do?|
I don't suppose we can ask him technical question right?
Virtual Reality a Reality? (Rift, Morpheus, Vive et al) • Page 19

He's putting the questions to the rest of team (Palmer, Brendan et al). And to answer your question he's one of the original founders of Oculus, so I suspect he'll be fairly clued in.

I have a question. Do they foresee themselves manufacturing a console version? In fact, do they foresee themselves doing the manufacturing in general, or licensing the hardware tech out to other companies?
Thanks Lukus. I have a horrible feeling I know what the answers to those will be (i.e. we can't talk about that), but it's worth a shot.
OK, officially upped a post for comments to try and get these questions compiled: http://www.riftvr.com/oculus-team-mini-qa-yes-the-actual-oculus-team/
..don't let the reddit guys steam all the slots.
Could any of you fine fellows do a very quick site check for me? I've ripped out and replaced the forum and registration system (to make it less shit) and I could do with someone trying it out.
Registration page is here: http://www.riftvr.com/forum-registration/
..let me know if you find any weirdness.
Big hugs as always in advance.

Seems okay to me...
Thanks Spin, much appreciated.
I've managed to get a Q&A / Interview with the developers of 'Dream', Hypersloth.
Once we're through the Oculus QA, I'll be back for more questions.
Google analytics tells the real truth you gorgeous little man. Thanks for the bump!
Oculus now have the Pre-order page up for those who missed out on the Kickstarter. Go get 'em:
..summary of this and other updates from Oculus here.

I think your calculator is broken.
$30 premium to get it in December then. Fair dos.
$330 with international shipping ($300 without). In fact, the Kickstarter saved my $15 and I get it early.
Also, Doom 3 BFG seems to be limited on the pre-orders to the first 1000 copies, whereas every Kickstarter pledge gets a copy.

OK, Oculus questions compiled and sent.
..so here's another one. 'Dream' developers Hypersloth - what would you like to ask?
Palmer Luckey got back to me earlier today with his answers to our questions. The write-up is now online.

They're not, they're using it as an incentive to pre-order a Rift. They're not selling the game seperately after all.
Why does it make no sense? They are dev-kits and are being sold as such. Doom being included with the Kickstarter was a reward based thing, this is ensuring more developers can get their hands on the unit and, well, develop with it.
By the way, I'm not sure on the effectiveness of this myself either, I'm just saying that's the logic their applying.
It's a standard sales technique to increase the speed at which you shift stock. Buy now and you'll get this! etc.
It isn't linked to hardware inventory / manufacturing.
