    From what I have seen from the live stream the pre alpha is further ahead than the BF3 beta was.

    From what I have learned this is siege mode,where flag cap positions can be destroyed to create new flag cap positions.

    Not seen the stream, isn't the collapsing building a scripted event during a match. Change the layout of a map during a round etc

    To bring the skyscraper down you have to take out 4 marked pillars.The flag on top of the building now becomes a flag in the ruins on the ground.
    I think this flag control gives the team the AC 130 Gunship.

    There are also two bridges on the map with electronic bollards that can be raised and lowered to stop tanks crossing.

    I like the sound of dynamic maps, but they need to limit it or everyone will just be running around triggering events.

    I doubt it, why would they do that? The "levolution" as they call it is a major aspect of the whole game. This goes from shooting fire extinguishers to blind other players all the way up to collapsing skyscrapers. I guess every map will have at least one major set piece such as the skyscraper, it'll be interesting to see how creative they are with it, or whether they just limit it to buildings and bridges. You could have a collapsible dam, for example. I'm really excited to see how these levels turn out.

    Yeah I think I am wrong about Siege mode,as the map is Siege of Shanghai.
    I just kept hearing them saying this is Siege.

    To destory the building according to IGN Players must destory the building support pillars to bring the building down. So this changes the layout of that flag and area around it plus the dust will limit visibility for all players

    Some good info in those vids by levelcap, especially like that recon (with C4 and motion balls) and support (with grenade launcher) are getting some love.

    I get the impression they thought wookies were over subscribed and tried to make them less appealing, didn't stop people, just made this popular class lees useful to the team.

    With the customisations, commander and squad perks overhaul. It sounds like they really targeting the weakest parts of the game and not afraid of making it too complex for console.

    Also a paddle nerf, thank god

    Interesting that all classes get c4 now.If true that could lead to all sorts of Battlefield insanity.

    Hmm, not sure how I feel about that.

    The trend since the early games has been to make each class more versatile; the anti-tank bloke in 1942 only had a rocket launcher and a pistol iirc... I like being able to customise my player but it sort of defeats the point of being a class-based shooter if everyone can pretty much do everything.

    Each class will still have its own abilities assault=medic,engineer=RPG/repairing etc

    Only seen C4 for recon only and not as an all class kit item

    Other bits of info from Alpha, skyscraper where C flag is. You can cut power to the lift so players have to use the stair case, security bollards you can raise at the bridges which tanks can't destroy, you have to lower them by using the console beside them, shop shutters can be closed to prevent access

    Devs mentioned about a subway part of the map which has been built into the map yet

    For BF3 they showed Operation Metro at E3, then released the Caspian Border trailer at Gamescom.

    Seems like they're following the same pattern, and the new map will probably be a massive one, with jets. It'll probably have water as a focal point, and the new gamemode could be a naval combat game of some sort. Seems we'll get to see gameplay of it all instead of just a trailer.

    Hope the new game mode is a perma death mode, rumours are that it is. 16 v 16 search and destroy was awesome on the original CoD on PC. But they'd have to make a few changes for a mode like that. No gadgets at all, just a primary weapon, pistol and a grenade, that's it otherwise you'd just get explosive spam and res trains.

    Search and Destroy was/is aweseome, but I tend to agree with Broken English. Close Quarters is pretty fun though, and it has a few game modes of it's own, that maybe they'll bring to 4.

    So, is this the official BF4 thread?
