It's good to have the internet back. My phone is so old, I could only read about the 3DSXL, not see it. I think it looks pretty good. If I didn't already have an original model, i'd probably buy one. It doesn't even bother me that the charger comes separately. As long as people know in advance, I don't see the problem.

Glad they left off the second slide pad, as I expected. There really isn't any need for it with the current flock of games and it would only alienate early adopters.

French preview with pics and a video

    http://www.p-nintendo.com/articles/reportages/exclu-pn-a-teste-la-3ds-xl-232121

A guy on neogaf sums it up:

    - The screens are HUUUGE!
    - DS games will get a "third life" on the bigger screen.
    - The 3D effect is easier on the eye and nicer to the look.
    - The technology behind the 3D might have been improved on the XL model. (To confirm)
    - They think there's some kind of "filter" at works here because the pixels appear "rounded."
    - "The XL is so much more comfortable to hold than the original 3DS that we have to ask what the hell has Nintendo been doing in R&D with the original model." (Paraphrased)
    - The difference might be small, but the buttons felt well placed and of better quality.
    - The circle pad appears bigger. (To confirm)
    - Surprisingly light for its size.
    - 3DS games will gain new life from the XL.
    - Speakers and sounds doesn't appear to have improve. (Was in a noisy room, to confirm.)
    - The XL is an upgrade on the 3DS from almost every single point.

So it isn't horribly jaggy and pixelated like the old DS XL? Sounds great!
But what about the battery life? I guess the eternal battery of the DS Lite is too much to ask for, but is there any improvement?

The size difference is massive. I didn't realise there was such a big difference :S Wonder what trade deals there will be :)

I shall be getting one of these. The 3DS was too big to carry in your pocket anyway, so you needed a bag - which basically means that any further size upgrade doesn't really matter as you needed a bag in the first place.

That screen looks phenomenal. I traded my 3DS in for a Vita, I never did finish Super Mario 3D Land...

    Get bent.

The 3DS fits fine in my jeans back pockets (or even the front pocket on some of my jeans if I'm not carrying my wallet), and fits in my cycling shorts thigh pockets (which also ensures enough movement to score some play coins when on my bike). The XL should be fine in my cycling shorts, as it is only slightly larger than my old DS Phat, but I'm not sure how it'll fit in my jeans pockets.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

Is that a 3DS XL in my pocket or are you happy to see me?

How patches are ruining the future of gaming My thoughts.

So, assuming Game or someone do a trade in deal, as they always do when a new DS comes out, how the frig do I transfer all my ambassador/downloaded titles?

The best thing is that they got rid of the horrible shiny surround of the top screen, meaning I had to stare at my face while playing.

I have a US 3ds and games, so I might look to import one of these. I've never imported hardware before, does anyone know the best way of going about this?

I have to admit, the rounded corners do indeed look like they'd be comfier to hold.

i want one!!!!!!! god damn nintendo!!!! every time, it was the same with the DS and the DS lite (though i held out against getting a DSi and DS XL)

Thankfully its my bday on 14th August and i am hoping to get enough amazon vouchers that i wont have to pay for it and that way i can still save for the Wii U

do you think that people with the XL would have an advantage over standard 3ds users in multiplayer?
