With Move support and trophies - £15.99

Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that award winning Ōkami will be re-born this autumn as a digital download on PlayStation Network for £15.99 /€19.99. Already one of the most beautiful games ever created, the addition of HD graphics will make this new version of Ōkami even more stunning. Ōkami HD will also feature PlayStation Move integration as well as a full suite of PlayStation 3 system trophies.

Initially released to critical acclaim on the PlayStation 2 system, players take on the role of Amaterasu, the Japanese sun goddess, who inhabits the form of a wolf. After a tyrannical monster turns the world into a ruined wasteland, she must use her magical abilities to restore the land to its previous glory full of life and color.

    Okami HD for PS3

Ōkami HD brings Amaterasu’s epic tale to the PS3 with fully integrated HD graphics and 16:9 aspect ratio. The trademark sumi-e ink art style lends itself perfectly to HD allowing players to experience more of the awe-inspiring world displayed in greater detail than ever before.

To create an even more immersive experience, players can take advantage of the PlayStation Move motion controller and naturally make brush strokes with the essential Celestial Brush to defeat enemies and solve puzzles. Ōkami HD will also support the DUALSHOCK®3 wireless controller for those who wish to re-live the original experience.

For more information on Ōkami HD please visit www.capcomeuro-press.com.

Haha, I was sitting here hitting F5 literally thinking "surely someone is in the middle of making a thread for this, if it hasn't been made already".

edit: JP release date is November 1st, fwiw.

Meh. I've already played this twice. Makes you wonder why we haven't had a sequel yet - oh, that's right, because you fired the developers, Capcom.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

Clover/Platinum never strike me much as people who love making sequels anyway, tbh (VJ2 was more like the second half of the first game than an actual sequel - certainly something that Okami didn't need).

    Inevitable, but welcome.

I only played a few minutes of Okami on the PS2, so it's definitely not "meh" for me. :-)

Strange that they're doing it so late, I may be tempted again even though I completed it on the Wii, such a beautiful game...

Bought it on PS2. Played for like 15 minutes.

    Still got it somewhere.

    Somewhere.

Not that my PS2 works anymore. Or that I have any inclination to try and play it again.

    Ever.

It doesn't really starry for at least an hour and it's brilliant and one of the prettiest games in history.

    No Vita version? Gah.

Give yourself £5 or ½ gig, you're worth it.

Maybe if there was a grey/brown tint and I could shoot people in the face it might be good.

    :-D

    I jest, of course.

After all the great things I heard about it at the time, and great things were said, I wanted to take a dive. But upon loading the game I was pretty much instantly bored. I don't know what it was, be it the art style, the characters, or the gameplay, but nothing seemed to grab me, at all. I wanted to like it, after all, it costs money, nobody likes wasting money, but I couldn't. And I was sad. :-(
It's a shame really, I mean, that £40 or so could've gone on something more useful.

    Oh well.

Wasn't there a sequel on DS?

Re: Okami, it's a good game but it's about 10 hours too long and really drags at the end.

My look back at one of the best sequels ever: Uncharted 2.

Shame they're only doing this one for PS3, because I would've probably caved and bought a 360 version even though I played it to death on the PS2.

Awesome game. If you've never played it then a purchase should be mandatory. Unless Capcom screw it up.

    Why don't you have a PS3? ;)

They changed the colors for the Wii version - not good.
And I do hope for some physical release but somehow I doubt that...

Since it's almost guaranteed to sell poorly, a physical release would be foolish. I'd much rather they release it digitally and make some profit from it; that would encourage further forays into this area.

@Dangerous_Dan: You'd have to ask Sony that.

Didn't they also remove the awesome 'paper' filter from the Wii version too? That'd better make it through intact this time.

They's didn't completely remove it but it was so watered down it was hardly noticable.
The Wii version gained widescreen, pointer controls and more vibrant colours but lost the filter effect, the PS3 version should have everything and be in HD.

If that is the case there's not a chance that I'll be able to resist, the first time I brought an area back to life my jaw dropped, one of my finest gaming memories.

I'd kill for a proper sequel, but chances are Capcom would screw it up if they did it on their own.

I tried to play the DS version but it's just.... I can't do DS games. Can't.

Actually I'd prefer to have the original color palette. Anyway, we shall see how it turns out. Great news it is.

This was one of the finest games of the last gen. Great news, and will definitely be a purchase.

Would be awesome on Vita, as would Okamiden - just with less loading screens please.

I'd always hoped for a Clover Studios Bundle with Viewtiful Joe and Killer 7 bundled but this is great news none the less.

And a touch screen Vita version would be the wolfs bollocks.

I'd think i'd cry with joy if this happened.

As it is with today's news, i did a little dance. My only concern is that Capcom aren't known for producing HD ports to the same quality as Sony's own. The comparison video in the article does give me some hope though.
