Ok, so most people know that Jaws has been jazzed up for a Blu-Ray release in August for the Universal 100th Anniversary, but, I've just found out that it'll also be re-released at cinemas in the UK from June 15th:

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073195/releaseinfo

Fucking awesome! We can all see it again in a better state than it was originally released in, which is amazing. Just thought I'd give a heads-up.

Also, the BBFC have finally seen sense and have changed the certificate from a PG, to a 12A.

I can't wait to see this again on the big screen.

One of my favourite flicks - woot!

-- boobs do nothing for me, I want moustaches and chest hair.

Seen some reviews of this and apparently the cleanup job is top-notch. Might actually venture to the cinema to see this one :-)

Me too - one of the best films of all time and easily in my top 3 of most watched films.

"farewell and adieu to you fair spanish ladies"

Everybody should just calm down a little bit and have a nice cup of tea.

A 79/100 for a metascore. What kind of ridiculous nonsense is that?

Looking forward to a re-release, though! Glad to hear they aren't adding a bunch of stupid scenes, like that futuristic, outer-space-themed film from around the same time.

That's metacritic for you, a load of old bollocks.

There's a few previews on the work done to restore the print on youtube, and we'll finally get the full making of documentary which is nearly as good as the film itself.

I only realised recently that it was this film, and it sequel, and a cruel uncle that was responsible for my hatred of watersports.

    It's not a jaws anniversary as it's 37th anniversary isn't until December.

I am seeing JAWS tonight at my local cinema. I take it I wont be seeing this spruced up version?

Would have been nice if they'd went to the effort of CGI'ing the shark. Seems like a pretty shoddy restoration to me.

    Called it

I doubt it as this re-release is to support the Blu-Ray release.

Jesus, could've gone and seen JAWs anytime in the last 25 odd years, but decided to see it a month before a re-release...

Go watch it again. It's been on the telly loads of times recently and I watch it every time - can't help myself. Check the TV guide, see "Jaws", switch to "Jaws", watch Jaws, repeat the next night.

Okay. But if anyone has any questions about the book, feel free to ask via PM. I'll come back in periodically to remind you.

I reckon this is actually one of the only films I can think of where the film is better than the book.
