Obviously this is not limited to just these two but these are the ones that immediately come to mind as "OMG want".

Personally, if I could only choose one, I would have the portal gun. Imagine the possibilities. The world would be utterly chaotic if everyone had one, but if it was only me then what fun it would be. I guess you'd need the long-fall boots too, could be ugly otherwise

Of course if you owned the patent to a working lightsaber then you'd make a millionty billion pounds as literally everyone aged between 8 and 50 would buy one. There would be some "challenges" faced by Accident & Emergency departments but it would be totally worth it

The gravity gun would be excellent too. Again, certain challenges faced by A&E ("what happened?" "I shot him with a toilet";)

    Medi-Gun from TF2
Not only could you fix any non-fatal wounds in under a minute, but from time to time you'd get 8 seconds of invulnerability.

Ah cool so if A&E had medi-guns, then that's all the lightsaber amputations sorted

    Exactly!
And the übercharge could be deployed on the aggressive drunks.

The Shrink Ray from Duke Nukem 3D; a lightsaber is way cooler but the excellent storage applications of the ray are also nice. Also, micro kittens!

    Flammie Drum.

Playing all the right notes— but not necessarily in the right order.

YT's skateboard and Hiro's bike from Snow Crash always appealed to me, as did Chevette's electric-shock bicycle from Virtual Light

Ooh, and the Primer from Diamond Age, or the replicators from the same book....

Most of all I'd go for Armed and Dangerous' land-shark gun. But with gummy sharks. Would be good for chuckles

I'd happily have Skyrim's Sanguine Rose under my desk at work. The Dremora would run round killing all my enemies i.e. the drunky-breath guy who sits opposite.

I know it's a bit of a cheat, but I'd like a 'Save Point' so I could try a few things out and re-load if they didn't work... (Or I wanted to do them again...)

Or I could go for a Portal gun / Lightsaber combo - cut your enemies feet off, from behind whilst facing him...

Since I'm finishing ME3 at the moment: eezo drives, bio amps and mass relays, though the last one might stretch the definition of gadget a bit.

Portal gun would be fantastic, would save time on a commute!

Would need a large quantity of moon rock paint though

Ask me anything about Dungeon Keeper

A gun that shoots other guns.

Honestly though, portal gun. Boring answer but it's by far the one I'd most enjoy. I don't have any particular desire to kill people (which the portal gun could do in hilariously ironic ways, anyway).

Star Trek replicators could be handy, provided we could find a reliable source of dilithium crystals.

I would like Lyra's Alethiometer from 'the dark materials trilogy'. I would find out what happened to Maddie.
