I seem to love fifa for a month or so then never go near it again. Online infuriates me. I'm probably in the minority though.

I tend to go through patches with both PES and FIFA, will play it a lot then drop if for a few months. FIFA 12 was first I didn't buy in years though, really disliked the changes they made.

    @ecureuil
yes mate its actually very easy also, when the ps3 firmware was leaked it contained signed sony drivers for the ds3 for windows 7 (including 64)
I downloaded the 3.41 sdk and they are in a folder

it takes like 30 secs to install them.

you cant use bluetooth , have to use usb cable but they work perfect with zero lag

The PES ingame mini loading transition thing is annoyng, looks cool, but after the first few tmes it made me feel sick.

Managed to meg Chiellini with Ronaldo using RB and RT at the right time and angle, also had Moutinho do one of those moves where he flicks an oncoming ball over his head when changing direction, this did it automatically.

Having a fun time with Germany too, Khedira is a beast in midfield and his movement being the water carrier of the team is superb to watch.

It helps if you tap and hold RT on a players first touch btw, something to try and remember for more difficult pacey cross field passes etc.

As predicted though England have a terrible first touch.

Impressions over at PESFan seem to pretty positive. This might be the first PES I buy since 2010.

    Yeah it is quite hypnotizing

Had a few more goes, half a dozen games or so now and it's really very good as it is. The throw-ins seem to be balanced a lot better (seemingly no more 20yd away from the receiver AI cheats etc). I quite like the predictive passing arrow you get as well, so you can judge to a fine degree where to put through balls etc.

The only major annoyance I have with it is that I have to go back to 12 now for my regular ML fix until this is released :(

Anybody managed to nail penalties on the recent PES games? Game seems to have a mind of its own when it comes to the direction. 99% of the time it will go down the middle and it does the same on the demo for 13. =/
  • Deleted user 25 July 2012 19:34:24
The length of time you hold down shoot determines the height and you have to hold a direction too (although it's fiddly so it's easy to send one well passed the post).

What PES was it where penalties were all but written out of the game? I'm thinking maybe 9 or 10. Which ever it was I recall not getting a single one in 10+ seasons of ML :(

Fiddly is an understatement haha, I just had a shoot out and all 5 went straight down the middle despite me aiming all to the sides.

Wish they would adopt the FIFA model on pens. At least I am good at saving them in PES though.
  • Deleted user 25 July 2012 19:49:52
How do you get a pen shoot out? I drew loads and the game just ends!! Ha

Also does anyone have any tips for pulling off skills, I seem to be using sprint a lot which I want to get out of the habit of doing.
When I want to push the ball out in front of me it says RB & RT together but can't seem to do it :S

    I am a gamer, HONEST!! :D

Hold RT then angle to a Slightly different direction and tap RB.

If you want to sprint double or triple tap RB

Playing on the PC with an unlocker. :)

Can't help you with skill moves though, I have never been able to do them.

Tricks are largely mapped to the RT / R2 button. Try standing still, holding down RT and pushing the left stick a few directions to get the idea. There are more specialised ones that can be mapped to the right stick too (I tend to avoid them as they are tricky to get right in exactly the right moment).

Do you mean when running to knock the ball forward? If so hold sprint (RB/R1) and them hold RT/R2 and pressing either up or down in a diagonal direction that you are running towards (so if you are playing left to right push either up right or down right when running in a straight line).

If you mean to simply nudge the ball in front of you, you can stand still, hold RT then tap RB without pressing any directions.

Liking this demo. I'm fucking terrible at football games but this feels like a much better representation of an actual football match than Fifa 12.

Everytime I try a PES demo I get through on goal, one on one with the keeper, then cross the ball into the stands though.

Thanks for the help chaps. Going to give it a whirl now.

Really impressed with the demo. Haha I feel totally smitten

Anyone having trouble downloading the demo? I get an error code when I try to select the ad on the Home slide. Can't find it in the actual Marketplace either.

Really enjoying this. One quick thing I've noticed: Is this the first game that allows you to actually sprint with the goalkeeper while he's got the ball in his hands? If you hold down sprint he actually starts moving faster whilst still holding onto the ball. Excellent if you want to launch quick counter attacks after catching a shot or errant through-ball.

Ok after 1 game it already feels much better than last years game, there's definitely something different about this years version, not quite sure what it is yet but something does feel right this year.

Been playing loads tonight and my initial impressions are pretty mixed:

    + It's definitely a lot better than PES 2012
+ The Shooting has been sorted out and feels miles better (no more floaties!)
+ The manual passing is great once you get used to it (I can't get used to manual shooting though - I keep hitting the corner flag).
+ The Blimp cam is great and gives you a real birds-eye view of the whole pitch

    - It still feels very similar to PES 2012. In fact I'd call this PES 2012.5
    - The pre-match build up is almost identical to PES 2012, as are the menus
    - The graphics are almost identical to PES 2012
    - The ref still gives some stupid free kicks when you just bump into a player (but still better than PES 2012).
    - Headers are still pretty pants!

I'm pretty impressed with the demo overall but I was hoping it was gonna feel a bit more fresh and new. It really does feel so familiar in parts to PES 2012!!

I'll be very interested to see how the second demo in September compares to this one. A few tweaks could make a big difference!

I'm still not completely sold on PES 2013 though and I'll be testing the Fifa 13 demo out before I make my final purchase.

Maybe I'm just too used to PES (I've bought every one since PES 2 on PS2) but something felt a little stale and predictable in some games (although that might be cos I'm playing the game like PES 2012. Sometimes it takes me 20-30 games to get a feel for the new PES)

I agree with a previous poster - 'Definitely an evolution rather than a revolution.'

remember people this is demo 1, demo 2 is yet to come. Plenty can change as last year attests to.

The manual passing is great but aside from this it still feels like I'm playing a previous year's Pro Evo. Which is a problem because I feel FIFA plays a better game of football and has for a while now.

A bit baffled by people exclaiming stuff like "Oh they've finally nailed it", "Pro Evo is back", this is so much better than PES 20XX".

Either way I doubt I'll get either the full version of this or FIFA 13 (because I don't like tactical defending much, primarily, and I still play FIFA 11 online which does the job just fine).
