I like that you can read the story of what happened in the previous game. Pretty handy for me, anyway!

I played MGS2 last night for a few hours. I am absolutely shocking at it, after around 2 hours of playing i have only just got to Olga and am getting raped something awful.

I have only ever played the Acid games before so its all a bit new.

Initially the controls are very strange, but i have been getting used to them. The oddest is the aiming, having to press the R button, then down on d-pad then square to shoot. and if, during this process you get shot the fecking gun goes away so you need to do it all again. and you cant move while doing this or aiming....

It does look nice and sharp though and the framerate seems to be silky smooth. Also seems to be some AA as there is a lack of jaggies

not tried MGS3 yet

Enjoying it so far! Had a brief foray into story mode then decided to have a go on some of the VR missions to practise. I'm also getting used to the controls. At the moment I am still occasionally creating scenes like this:

Me: Okay, now crawl through the duct Raiden. *presses X to crouch/crawl*
Raiden: *cartwheels into the enemies' vision*
Me: Nooo!

I've been enjoying it but the frame rate can suffer quite badly at times, especially during some of MGS 2's VR missions. One the whole it looks and plays beautifully though!

@greenthumb

The easiest way I shoot people is, hold square to draw your weapon, then if you need to move, hold X (whilst still holding square), this allows you to move with your weapon drawn. Then keep pressing R to go into first person.

Did you ever finish the guitar theme tune? Just listened to it again, it's super fella.

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

Those VR missions are horribly addictive! Also quite helpful as I keep discovering new control aspects.

On a side note, I love that they put a mini poster in the instruction booklet.

Ouch. What price are shops charging for a physical copy?

Did they cancel your order? There's quite a few shops with it in stock if you don't have to use Amazon.

Amazon and game are doing it for 21 ish online.

No the order says dispatching soon and if I go to cancel it says "we can't guarentee cancellation but we'll try our best'

So not sure I want to risk getting two copies

Has anyone had any experiencing transferring (notice the 'e' instead of the 'a', silly Kojima) saves between PS3 and Vita? I'm tempted to get this purely do that I can continue playing when away from home. Or when on the loo. Actually, just that last part.

My goodness. I am loving this. Brings back so many memories and plays so well. Quite amazing playing a game like this in bed with headphones and the lights off. :)

DD or Cartridge, that is the question. Hmmm, and 20 is very tempting.

So got this today. Started playing MGS 2.

The cutscene starts and it starts doing a bloody strobe effect of controls. Seriously, it shows each control for less than a second then moves on. Is this normal?

Please tell me it actually gives you a proper intro a bit later?

Those of you hoping to get free trophies from your old PS3 save - Trophies won't transfer over to your Vita version unless the PS3 save was made AFTER the latest update to your PS3 copy. The PS3 version just updated to version 1.03 to allow transfarring but any save files created before the update will lock out trophies.

My mate just bought a Vita copy and I thought I'd boost my trophy score because I've already platinum'd both so borrowed it off him quickly. Every time I tried copying my PS3 file over to my Vita it kept warning me about trophies not unlocking. I then started a new games and created a brand new file which copied over fine but it seems like the game uses your save file to determine trophy transfers as opposed to your PSN card like Motorstorm RC does.

Kinda lame if I'm honest. I spent an age playing MGS2 multiple times as well as the painfully hard VR missions and there's no way I'm going to do them all over again on the Vita. Stupid move on Konami's part. I don't mind re-doing MGS3 because the platinum can be earnt in a single playthrough if you know the game inside out, but MGS2 requires at least 40-50 hours of play to plat!

@sfp_noodle - question is: will it work h other way 'round? If I complete MGS2 on he Vita, and then transfar back to the PS3, will I also automatically get the trophies for the PS3 version?

@Flying_Pig Going by comments I've read on the trophy forum it should do as long as you connect to the PSN for your initial save. You don't need to connect again after that until you transfer but if you don't do it the first time you're out of luck.

Can we all just agree to say transfer rather than transfar please?

Not that I'm some kind of word Gestapo you understand, although I will have to shoot anyone guilty of noncompliance.

So if I play and platinum both MGS games on Vita then buy PS3 version insert disk I'll get another two Platinums?
• Deleted user 29 June 2012 23:15:52
@Zackv4861

Yes, as long as you were signed into the PSN on your Vita when your original save was created. PS3 gamers who already platinum'd the games are getting screwed over by Konami. Surely when they came up with the idea of game save sharing they should have known that the majority of their fans would have already owned the game considering it was released 8 months ago. Motorstorm RC uses your trophy card to determine trophy transfers - I don't need to switch saves to earn the trophy on my PS3 version. I'v earnt pretty much all my trophies on Motorstorm RC by playing on the Vita and every single time I've booted up my PS3 version all earned trophies are automatically added. Konami should have used the same method instead of this stupid idea that they've gone for.

They must've had some trouble. I got an email apologising for the delay and it was then dispatched on Friday evening. I'm playing Peace Walker for the first time currently, so I'm not too bummed about it.

Quite enjoying this. Not my genre, so 8/10 so far, but still good fun.

Problem with it is it suffers from Resident Evil syndrome in that the difficulty is not in trying to figure out what to do, or anything like that, it's mainly trying to get past the awful control system and camera. Saying that, unlikeResident Evil this is actually fun.

Utterly bonkers though.

(I'm about 2 hours into character 2 in MGS 2.)

With amazons problems on delivery of recently released titles I suddenly feel the need to quote my warning from 5 days ago.
