    @Bremenacht

Believe so there are achievements to get 80 engineers and 80 researchers. Can sell items on the grey market, don't know if that's just limited to alien bodies and loot you find or you can sell off surplus kit you make as well

@fletch7100 Selling off the surplus kit you've manufactured is what I have in mind, thinking about onestepfromlosts post. It might be better to get engineers generating income and collect a different base bonus instead.

That's assuming commerce is anything like the originals, of course.

Tintin killed our VIP, yards from safety, flipped out when a rookie left for dead (no one could help him, he had the only medkit) bled out.

Shocked to the core, Tintin was a stone cold killer, lone survivor of two previous missions. I guess he saw one death too many.

It is the same composer. Name escapes me.

I really need to catch one of these aliens alive.

I installed out of interest, the original X-COM: UFO Defence earlier. The first craft dashed off, evading interception somewhere over Wales. Our first crash site mission turn went: open the door of the carrier, literally set a foot outside on to the ramp - pew pew, scream! Rookie, thanks for coming! Experienced difficulty setting is not kidding, I think you actually need to be to get off Beginner.

What's going on with the percentages above the alien heads in the bottom right? Most of the time they bear no relation to the percentage to hit that you get when you actually target the alien.

i dont recall ever seeing a percentage over their head icon in the bottom right. maybe something to do with a perk you have unlocked?

Can you stun and capture any alien? There was a muton with 2 health left that resisted two stun attempts before killing my assault soldier.

Normal difficulty, Ironman, and it's basically a disaster of epic proportions in every respect. My upgraded team got wiped due to complete failure on my part and some really bad luck (92% hit chance, and he failed), my team of rookies in the next mission got wiped as well, everybody is leaving the XCOM project, and I am out of money. It's lovely. :)

No idea how some play this on Classic Ironman!

When did you move to the US, UL?! ;-)

I've managed to resist using my VPN, I can wait a bit longer, plus I had TWD to play this evening anyway...

Who would have thought that Blackburn Rovers players would be so shit at fighting aliens. 9 members for the 1995 Premier League winning squad are dead already!

The loss of Jason Wilcox was a massive blow!

I think I might need to knock the difficulty down a bit. Classic/Ironman is bat-shit crazy!

Has Shearer bought it yet or does he just bore all the aliens to death every time he goes on a mission?

edit: ah I see he hasn't!

I have a VPN already set up for netflix. It's soooo tempting just to flick it on for a minute to let this unlock. It's actually an inconvenience not doing it as I have to remember to close steam before turning the VPN on.

@Whizzo Big Al has just arrived at Xcom HQ, although I fear he wont last long!

Wouldn't be surprised if he just leaves Xcom and runs off back Newcastle as soon as the going gets tough, leaving his team behind. Yes, Xcom may be 15 million better off, but how would we replace him? 3 years later Xcom will get relegated and never truly recover...Thanks Alan, thanks for nothing!

Easter eggs. Renaming your soldiers with any of the following names, will get you a super soldier. . Doing so will DISABLE all achievements for that playthrough

    Kevin Levine
    Sid Meier
    Joe Kelly
    Otto Zander

@Chopsen Mainly because technically its against steams ToS and although I don't know of anyone being banned there are way too many games on my steam account to risk it for the sake another days wait.

Anyone getting peculiar shot results? On another forum a guy has consistently misses with a sniper at 75% but always hits with a shotgun medic at 45% when he reloads the game. Same enemy, same position on the map, retried multiple times.

What's wrong with that? Sounds like an excellent non cheat mechanic if each soldier has their own "random" seed.

I might be missing something, but that means that the results are set before the shot is taken, right? So it's not 75% and 45% it's 0% and 100%.

I'm not good at this sort of thing, but if he keeps reloading and reloading and reloading always getting the same result, then percentage chance is meaningless, surely?

I think the key thing is that he is reloading the game. Sounds like the percentages are not randomised at the time of the shot, like attacks are rolled in a D&D game for example, or if they are the random number generator is set at the beginning of the combat and isn't changed by saving/reloading.

Just finished my normal Ironman game, loved the ending, already want to play it again on classic.

I got this aswell, sometimes it would say 1% but it's accentually 79%, very wierd.

It probably saves the random seed like in civ games, so you can't specifically reload to get a better shot.

Aside from some UI wobbliness I only had one bug, the last three aliens on the bride of a large abductor UFO fell through the floor when I threw a battle scanner in.

So...OK, I'm having a bit of trouble with this.

Let's assume the outcome chosen before you fire, right? Does that mean the percentages on the screen are useful or not?

They are, assuming that the result has been calcuated based on what they say. But at that point they aren't, because there's no chance something else will happen.

    Is this schrodinger's shot?

And doesn't it make reloads a bit weird?
