Yep, the game is certainly moving along nicely.

Had an epic race at Sp, erm Belgian Forest in the Asano DTM car last night. Will have to get round to uploading it.

Well, I've taken the plunge. Been looking for an excuse to dust off the wheel.

I think that's the plan. Wouldn't be surprised to see it slip to 2013 though. While lots of progress is being made, the game does still feel very much in its early stages at the moment. Especially with the grand vision they have for the game.

Tempted to put some money down just based on the development model. If we want games that are cookie cutter clones then this could be the way to get them.

Junior members (10 euros) get the latest build on the first Friday of every month (this Friday coming), it's well worth a go at that price.

32 crazy AI cars in the latest build too :-)

This is looking quite special. Problem is i don't have a p.c I know that this is coming to consoles... but at what loss? saying that GT5 is massive. so perhaps they could do a very good port.

Intriguingly the wii u, if above spec of current gen, could have a early killer app. for me anyway.

Loving how they are going about this, one to one feedback and builds. Hopefully its the start of something new.

They do seem the most well realised cars so far, in terms of feel and physics.

Probably still a few months off MP being added. There is full time trial/leaderboards though. With quite clever lap delta stuff.

Are we sharing usernames? I did notice there was a friends tab on the leaderboards. Would like to have some times to aim for!

Edit* Think my player name is BillMurray

Mine is the same as here.

The leaderboards are available on the web, also.

I'm 'Jetset ' in game. Had a little go last night, and found it very polished for a pre beta.
What's a good beginners car? And are the tracks made up, as I didn't recognize any of the names.

Will the handling be like Shift? Cos let's not kid ourselves, it wasn't exactly reference quality.

It's nothing like Shift. This is a proper sim. Still plenty of work to do on physics but it's vastly better now than even a few weeks ago. They are putting in a lot of work to get it right. Actually, seeing the dev process and interaction with the community is one of the most interesting parts so far.

    Regarding tracks, basically:

    Belgian Forest is Spa.
    Bologna is Imola.
    Northampton is Silverstone.
    Connecticut Hill is Watkins Glen.
    Bathurst is, er, Bathurst.
    California Raceway is Willow Springs.
Chesterfield, Glencairn and Sommerton are fictional kart tracks.

Does it patch itself? Or do you have to do it manually?

You have to download each new build as it becomes available, bit of a pain to be honest.

I've started only downloading once a fortnight as the file size is getting bigger and bigger.

Glad that that the input lag has been greatly reduced but I'm still getting a disconnected feel with most of the cars though. The formula B feels the best to me although cornering feedback seems very iffy still.
The lotus (leonus?) 68 and 77 still feel very boat like and imprecise. Going through Eau Rouge or the esses at Watkins just doesn't feel right at all.

Formula A should be in today's build, looking forward to trying it.

pCARS.. ok, the ms wheel turned out not to work well.. massive deadzone and stuff so have resorted to the pad.. after mucho fiddling with settings i've got something that is almost comfortable to drive with.

oh man it's going to be so good. even in this hampered state i can feel the cars moving nicely and it al has a ton of promise. will be keeping a very very close on its further development. forumla b has been my favourite car so far out of it, touring, radical and f1

Semi-related but has anyone else been playing around with the rFactor 2 Beta?

I don't get that even in an alpha state how pCARS not only looks better but performs better too. rF2 really hasn't progressed much at all since the first, sadly.

Haven't they been largely focussed on physics with rfactor 2 though?

I quite like the physics in the rF2 beta, although the dx9 graphics are showing their age.

At the moment, the really dodgy, blocky shadows are ruining the graphics on pCARS for me, it's a total immersion killer and the word is that it's unlikely to be fixed due to the way they're implemented.

The future is certainly looking rosy for sim racing though, what with these coming up as well as GTR3 and the constantly improving industry standard iRacing.
Also look out for Asseto Corsa from the makers of netkar pro which looks like it could be jaw droppingly gorgeous and have the best FFB model around if nk pro is anything to go by.
