I'm 40+ hours in and have just hit November, so still have about 4-5 months to go. It covers the full year you're in Inaba doesn't it?

I had to force myself to stop playing this to finish tomb raider, and finally start Thief. I played some more last night and can feel myself putting quite a bit of time into again. Especially given what has just happened.

12 hours in and only in May, I think. Just getting close to being able to have a go at the second dungeon it seems.

Really wasn't too bothered about the game at first, I think it took around 6-8 hours just to get passed the tutorial bits but it's pretty addictive.

I can't afford FFX until 15th April so I imagine that's a good thing as it'll force me to concentrate on this.

Whats the difference between the US and EU version ? Seems alot of the versions online to buy appear to be US. Is there an issue with buying this ?????

@northernlights Absolutely no issue. There's no DLC and the two regions have identical versions. There are separate trophy lists for the US and EU version, incidentally.

On the last day now, just need to check how to get the best ending. Saving it for tomorrow night. I will be *really* sorry when this game ends, it's been great. I never really took to JRPGs before, but this has been a joy and I've laughed quite a lot at the characters antics.

I think it's possibly going to be up there with my favourite games ever.

Your life will feel empty Vortex :D

I think it is my favourite game ever. I could never really decide between it and Persona 3 though.

There's always P4 Arena with its extensive story mode if you want to spend more time with the P4 characters, though I can't personally vouch for how good it is as I'm waiting till I've finished P4G to get stuck in.

    Aaaaand I'm done. :(

I feel happy, yet a bit bereft too. 60hrs of my life spent in Inaba. I can think of worse ways to waste my time. :)

75 hours of my life and I already want to play again, one of my favourite games I've ever played.

Same here, done after 70 hours - many thanks for the advice in this thread! The character development and storytelling are pretty peerless, both in terms of quality and quantity. It's not all that often that I feel a sense of catharsis and achievement after finishing a game, instead of just feeling like I wasted a massive amount of time.

I had one more question: is the combat in Persona 3 Portable (FES isn't really an option as I don't have a PS2, not sure if that is a great loss) any more interesting than in P4G? Towards the end, I really was pretty bored by the dungeons. The basic combat system is fine, but running down identical corridors for hours on end, with nothing to break up the monotony just felt jarring, especially compared to how rich and nuanced the social elements of the game were. By the time I got to Yomotsu Hirasaka I couldn't help but groan and grind my way through as quickly as possible. Is playing on beginner and just cruising through those bits a valid option?

FES is on the PSN now if you have a ps3.

The combat is exactly the same as p4g though I'm afraid, if you really didn't get on with it, you won't enjoy it. It's even more samey because the dungeon is essentially one place broken up into very similar sections, with bosses scattered throughout.

Sadly I don't have a PS3 either - I've always been a PC and Nintendo man. I only really got a Vita to play P4G, but Tearaway, portable Spelunky and some Vita ports of games I backed on Kickstarter sweetened the deal.

The core combat gameplay loop really doesn't bother me; the rock/paper/scissors elemental attacks, buffs and debuffs and fusions are interesting, but there is just no variety at all in the dungeon design. There's one floor where you have to avoid shadows and a couple where you engage shadows as soon as you open doors, but that to me just underlined how samey it all is.

I'll probably just buy Persona 3 Portable next time it's on sale on PSN and play it when Persona 5 comes out - it'll be a fair while until Persona 5 Portable hopefully comes out!

    So...

Anyone else who's recently played through this getting a bit worried about the last few days' weather?

So I am 17 hours in and not getting the hype. I love the social aspects, the decision-making and messing about with the other characters in town.

I utterly despise the dull as dishwater dungeon crawling. 10 floors of the same corridors and crap loot in chests gets boring in less then a heartbeat. I just rush around avoiding enemies looking for the stairs now.

Is there all there is to this game ? It's totally love one aspect, despise the other for me.... Another 40 hours of this ?

Pretty much, though as you say the social aspects are incredibly detailed and engaging. They're what kept me going through the dungeons. Hopefully Persona 5 will add a bit of variety to the dungeons rather than just more retextured corridors!

I felt the same way near the start but I stuck with it and after 40-odd hours I'm enjoying it a lot more. The combat gets a bit more interesting when you have more options available and the enemies are tougher, unfortunately the dungeons are always nearly identical which is disappointing.

I'm now playing this and Final Fantasy X at the same time which I think makes me legally Japanese.

The samey-dungeons were the worst bit of the whole game for me. Try to stick it out though, the social links and story are more interesting than the linear plot you might feel is coming.

The saving system is horrible in this. I've died twice in the first real battles your trust in to (Yeah, I suck) and have been forced to endure five minutes of dialogue both times to get back to the point I was at. So off putting!

    You can fast forward dialogue.

If you're playing hard, this is an SMT game, you shouldn't be first time :D

    If you aren't ...... You suck :D

In about October with this. Started really brightly but since the summer vacation it's been dragging quite a lot to be honest. All members of the party are together now. Anyone got anything there to motivate me? Almost think I prefer P3P, controversially.

Well, what the hell happened with that ending? Must've been the bad one as it came from nowhere and skipped about half the game.

Ah wait, having done some research I've found how to carry on. Seems a bit of an arbitrary way to decide your ending. Have got a game cleared save and a carry on for the normal ending save. Not sure what to do now!!

Also 40+ hours in this and loving it. Abandoned persona 3 after 10 or so hours but will go back to it after completing this one.

Dont kid yourself, Jimmy. If a cow ever got the chance, hed eat you and everyone you care about!

This made me give up on the game after about 25 hours.

I just found it all so repetitive, even all the social stuff.
