That's cool. I would say what's the point if it won't play fetch but my dog won't do that either so I won't. :-(
  • Deleted user 2 December 2012 20:21:10
    My cat plays fetch.
  • Deleted user 2 December 2012 20:43:43
    But your cat hates you.
  • Deleted user 2 December 2012 20:46:07
    My cat bloody loves me.
  • Deleted user 2 December 2012 20:47:37
That's what it wants you to think. But it hates you man, I'm sorry.
  • Deleted user 2 December 2012 20:49:07
Say what you will, at least my pet doesn't self-mutilate itself out of sheer frustration of the situation.

    sorry :D
  • Deleted user 2 December 2012 20:52:43
    Self mutilate?
  • Deleted user 2 December 2012 21:04:47

Out of curiosity, and I am sure it was mentioned but I missed it. Who is teaching the dog not to crap in the house?
  • Deleted user 2 December 2012 21:07:32
I'll tell you what our cats do hate, the Christmas tree box. All three seem determined to eradicate it.

@prawn assuming that isn't just another poor joke me and then wife are training her no to poo in the house. It is going well. So far. I say that but she did just leave a present on the kitchen floor.

We took pickle to my parents house today and she shat on the floor in the back room.

We only discovered this because my dear old dad, his eyesight not being what it was, thought it was something broken on the floor and picked it up.....

    So, here's a random musing.

Country and Dubstep are the two worst genres of music, right? So the only way to create an even worse genre is by combining the two.

And so I give you... Cunt-step.

I like the sound of that. Is there a embarrassing dance to go with it?

    Whhop, whhop-whhop, Clapnham-style. Or something.

    WAIT A SECOND

Is it said "in-ven-try" or "inven-tory"?

I always take the piss when my mate says the first one, but just heard it said like that on an advert.

    Get bent.

  • Deleted user 3 December 2012 04:39:19
First one is British English pronunciation, second one is US English.

I have come to the conclusion that I will never understand the Monty Hall problem.

Sure, I read up on it, I nod sagely, and look like I know what it all means.

    But I don't get it.

Isn't that sort of the point of it though? It's not supposed to work, but it does.

Speaking of americanisms, I was talking to one of my yankee doodle colleagues last week who is absolutely perplexed by 'piece of piss'.

'I get piece of cake but why would you want a piece of piss?'

@Boo It's easier to understand if you increase the numbers above 3 I find. If say it's a choice of 60 doors and you can pick 20 then when you get the chance to swap what you are swapping for is the equivalent of 40 vs. 20 doors. I think that makes the probability side easier to see though of course it's still actually a choice of 3.

The Mythbusters episode on this is well worth checking out. Their results really do show that swapping was miles better even though it's not intuitive. It really did back up that you chance of winning was double.

Never heard of the Monty Hall problem, but upon looking it up it seems as PT says: it doesn't appear to work, but does. The issue is in the changing of probabilities when in fact nothing has changed between 1 & 2. Or have I misread it?

@RedSparrows The whole point of it is the switch represents going from 1/3 of a chance of getting the correct choice to 2/3 of a chance.

It just does not look like it should make a difference but it does.

If you cannot wrap your head around it it's probably just best to accept that it does work. Not that I can think of too many instances where knowing this is applicable to the real world.

Yeah, that's what I thought. But the third door makes no difference because the choice of 1 had been made.
