No room at his local one. They had to close down a ward. Something to do with a lack of funds.

I've been to Leicester hospital and it was horrible. Like something out of a word war 1 film. Maybe they sent him there for a laugh.

@Fozzie_bear - His local hospital doesn't have a plastics unit. So referred him to Leicester

There's not a plastic unit in Northampton, apparently. Or kettering. So everything goes through to Leicester instead.

    Anyway, I'm alive!!!!!

Being kept in overnight for observation. Apparently the anaesthetist found it "challenging" during the operation as my Gitelman Syndrome was causing my heart rate to go all over the place so they were a bit concerned.

Turns out the tendon is fine, but I had severed an artery that they weren't previously aware of, but bloodflow hadn't been compromised so they just sealed it off by cauterising.

They actually managed to repair the nerves, but it will never be 100% again and will take at least a year or two before it's healed properly.

And the hospital has wifi! So I can at least spend the evening and tomorrow playing WoW on my laptop (sort of, going to be a bit challenging having my finger thoroughly sausage-ified in bandages).

Well apparently it actually was a bit iffy at one point. As I said, my heart was going a bit wobbly during the op apparently.

@darkmorgado I know the feeling, went to the dentist earlier for a couple of fillings and when she gave me the numbing stuff my heart was beating like a jackhammer. Definitely don't go to the dentist after 8 Kronenbourgs and an Insanity pizza the night before - was touch and go for a while.

:-D If it helps your potential trolling options, my finger is currently well and truly numb from a combination of codeine, morphine and paracetamol. You could probably break it and I wouldn't even notice.

I did something like that. After clubbing once I banged my head and had to have 18 stitches in it but because my heart was all over the place they kept me in for 3 days.

    Worst come down ever.

I once gave myself a paper cut when i was putting a letter in the envelope. Got a smeer of blood on the letter and had to rewrite it. Tried to tipp-ex it out but it just didn't look right.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I put a plaster on it and within a half an hour or so the worst of the bleeding seemed to pretty much have stopped. Kept the plaster on for another couple of days though and eventually it fell off in the bath*. Thought i'd be ok to not bother replacing it. Turned out that that was a reasonable call because i didn't have a relapse or anything.

Still get flashbacks every now and then.

*the plaster - not my finger. In case you were worrying.

Based on recent posts I think DM should consider taking up the morphine full time. It agrees with/makes you agreeable.
