    I say it's true, because:

    1. Valve should be making Episode 3.
    2. They won't.

Just because the Xbox one was crap doesn't mean this one will be. What ridiculous logic.

Xbox Counter-Strike was nothing like the real thing, it was a poor imitation. I'm up for another console CS so long as it's up to the standard of the console versions of L4D and Portal. Which it would be.

CS demands dead accurate targeting with a tiny crosshair. This can't be done on a console with a joypad and there's no evidence to support any rebuttal.

Couldn't the same have been said for COD?

No, none of those can compare to CS.

I used to play CS, BF1942 and COD1 (among others), and if I was to guess which one wouldn't work on a console I would have said BF, due to the long distances involves, player count and multiple vehicles.

Of course, a controller isn't as accurate as a KB&M, but there isn't a reason why CS wouldn't work on Xbox. Slightly poorer aim is no reason to not port it.

Of course, the general IQ level on Xbox Live is pretty low, so an objective based game might not work all that well, but most servers were full of idiots on the PC as well

    * These are purely based on hardware constraints. Easy to compromise when porting to a console.

~ This is based on interface constraints. In CS's case this is hard to compromise on.

My prediction: free to play on pc, supported by a TF2-like system of cosmetic items. More money will not buy you skill.

Ammo is free? No way! Get the fuck out. Amazing stuff.

Why would I want to play a game that is notorious for cheats?

I actually used the distances involved and vehicles as an interface constraint. For example, using a controller to fire at someone a long way away in BF is pretty difficult if you have the sensitivity even remotely high. Yet BC2 still works brilliantly on the consoles.

I don't see why CS is so special in its need for accuracy over any other FPS...

The fact that you can't see it, is why it's so special.

I'm pretty certain they've got more than one team working on their games*

They don't mean physically paying for ammo, it's just info that would interest the competitive community. You earn 'money' at the end of each round in CS that you spend on your equipment for the next round, which you lose if you die.

I played CS for years and never saw a single cheat, and I'm sure most people did too.

And yeah, CS is one game that I can't see working on a console, no amount of joypad autoaim/sticky crosshairs would help that much.

They canned the episodes and are making a straight 'big' sequel.

    In other news:

    - I played CS quite a lot and saw loads of cheaters (im not a HPW!)

    - CS players even now turn down detail to low to maximise the framerate. This, among, other things, is the reason CS would suck balls on a console. Aside from the aiming issue, 120fps or GTFO.

It went gold but Gabe went into one of his "pie frenzies" and mistook the master DVD for a delicious steak 'n' kidney.

I played CS, Dod and CS:S for years, and I saw plenty of cheats. Generally the ones that you can see are shit at cheating or just don't care (anybody know the MYGOT clan?). Decent cheaters are difficult to expose because they tend not to walk around getting headshots through walls.

I played it for years but still can't see it. Are you going to enlighten us lesser mortals to why it wouldn't work on console, yet every other FPS (pretty much) does?

And I saw a tonne of cheaters on CS (although DoD had a lot fewer IMO).

CS would have to be something fairly special to have a chance against COD or BF. CS:source is a bit shit nowadays.

I think it's the same thing why Quake Arcade didn't work for me in some ways, it's just built around M&K control in a way that's hard to make work as well on a joypad. It would be more playable than QA but I don't think it'd be as enjoyable. It's like if you had a console FPS with no autoaim and every weapon was the quake railgun, but with tons of spread and recoil unless you were perfectly twitch accurate.

I guess I never saw cheats as I tended to stick to a few favourite servers.

I can see why Quake didn't work, the sheer speed of the game would make it unplayable on a controller. Although saying that, I was always shit at CS anyway, so maybe I'm not the best placed to judge how it would work on a console!

I can't really enlighten you andy, because you need to understand the problem before you can understand the answer.
