I, too, had a great time. The music was awesome and getting to see Koji Kondo play the piano was well worth the money.

The only downside was the venue - or to be more specific the organisation/staff. I had no idea that you had to pick up your VIP pass at the box office, at least I never saw that mentioned anywhere when getting inside. Just before the concert I was asking the staff and they said I should pick it up at the interval, after the first half they said I'll get it after the show - in the end they told me I didn't even need one but eventually I was pointed to the bar where they handed out the passes. I've never been to the Hammersmith Apollo before, maybe you always have to pick these things up at the box office when you get in, I don't know - I sure had the impression though that the staff had no idea either.

It was even worse when we had to stand in line to get the autographs. I was pretty much at the end of the line and it took roughly two hours to get in, which would not have been so bad if the staff had not been so incredibly annoyed about how long they had to stay at work. After about an hour the only thing you could hear from them was that they were missing their last trains, blah blah blah.

It still was a very nice evening overall though and I cannot wait to get the CD that comes with Skyward Sword.

Surprised they did this at the Apollo - the sound quality in there is terrible.

Had a great night out too. Highlight for me was the 2 harpists (harpies !?) playing the fairy grotto/title music theme

Beer prices were shocking, 4.25 a pint !. Luckily I wasn't buying and thanks again to EG for the tickets

The LA performance has to be one of the worse I've listened to. Far too much whooping and hollering. At least the London one was far more reserved in that respect.

Also, the orchestra was far more "on it" at the London show. Hopefully they chose this recording over the LA one for the CD release.

I haven't been able to get some of the arrangements out of my head since last week. It really was a phenomenal night. Very pleased I went. Hopefully Nintendo will release an official video of one of the concerts at some point.

I guess the Play Orchestra isn't quite up to the Royal Philharmonic...

The translator did say that it would be that concert on the CD, but then that may have been a mistake.

"World apart" would be my description.

Oh, and it was the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra as opposed to the proper Royal Phil. Still a top notch outfit. 6 horns! I was in heaven :o)

Strange bump but I didn't want to create a new thread. Saw this in Vancouver at the Orpheum Theatre last night. It was amazing. Fantastic atmosphere. Contrary to south of the border, everyone was quiet and respectful during the performance.

I think you saw the Symphony of the Goddess tour, which is the 2nd Zelda concert. Would be very interested to see the programme.

Yeah, sorry. Assumed it was the same thing. They played a lot of stuff from the older games. Only one small piece from Skyward Sword. There's a new surprise addition (which you could probably ruin if you read about it online). The penultimate piece was Gerudo valley, which was great.

    Essentially it was:

    Overture
Intro (Goddesses of Time) leading into:
    Part 1: OoT
    Part 2: Wind Waker
    Part 3: Twilight Princess
Part 4: Link To The Past

    Surprise piece
    Gerudo Valley
    Finale (a melodic piece)

I was a bit dubious about receiving a Groupon discount for this and 300+ tickets had been bought. I'm sure the decent tickets had gone yonks ago so didn't buy. Not bothered really as it's the Final Fantasy concert the week after which I'm going to.

The seats for the groupon tickets look fine to me; I've been in the Apollo for another concert a little further back in the past.

I'm going cost me more than I wanted due to having to travel from Glasgow to London but I'm still looking forward to it.
