Only played little bit of aftermath on rush and quite enjoyed them. Nice CQ urban fights, plus different height levels through out the maps.
Yeah it makes the firefights more intense especially when a lit if players are at the same location

    @repairmanjack

If you need vehicle points, ride along as a passenger or gunner. The bonus points you get from the pilot/driver getting kills goes towards unlock points for that vehicle. Scout chopper sitting inside as a engineer passenger, repair tool out repairing the helicopter midflight. Get your engineer points plus scout helicopter points as the pilot gets his kills.

Game first came out, used to throw loads of mines out around Caspian Border, then get in a jet ASAP. The points from my mine kills went towards my jet unlocks as I was flying around. When you had to get points to unlock flares, that was flying. Managed to time it right and get couple of flag captures with the jet, just by pure luck than skill:) if I do anything great in this game, its never what I intended

Like jumping, firing one shot, killing enemy with headshot who was driving a dirt bike towards me. Was just a panicking jump and pressing the trigger by mistake :)

Sorry, passengers, couldn't find the manual.
Try this setup for heli controls.

    heli buttons [alternate]
    heli sticks [legacy]

It works for my befuddled brain.

They take a bit of practice but you get used to them. So what if you crash it a few times.

I find the choppers easy to fly in BF3, but in BC2 I was (and still am) absolutely terrible at them

CTF is great but they need to add spawn protection on the maps. You get the odd team usually full of lvl 100s that think its far more fun to sit in the spawn area behind so they kill the opposing team as they spawn in

Is there any way to split the up/down left/right controls over the 2 sticks with yaw, on right shoulder and left shoulder for choppers and jets? Its easily messed up with main movements all on right stick

Epic BF3 was epic last night. That is all.

    Actually, no it's not.
BF3 is the game that keeps on giving. The new maps are decent and the CTF mode had added a great new dimension to the gameplay. Superb fun!

Yeah, for all my moaning and bitching about BF3, there are few games that can provide the kind of lasting grins that last night gave.

So many special moments - leaping from a hill to the top of a LAV, planting C4 on it as the hapless driver turned the turret this way and that trying to find me, and then blowing myself and the three occupants to pieces. Joyous.

Then being pinned down in our base by an AA Vodnik parked outside it, before psychokitten ran up to it, repair tool in hand, making the driver jump out, and I got lucky and shoot him before he could defend his now-empty vehicle. PK repairs, we leap in and take a looping route to the enemy flag, capturing it, and driving off in our stolen Vodnik. On the way back to our base, we are getting big air doing jumps over hills as the enemy attack helicopter tries to zero in on us. In mid-air, after a tricky bit of locking on, psychokitten fires a Vodnik to-air missile that slams into the hovering heli, and we speed underneath it to race back to home base for what turns out to be the game-winning score. Well, the vodnik gets stuck in some rocks and we have to run home, but it was almost seamless.

Attacking that desert one, where the enemy uphill love to snipe and defend and never come out to cap the flag, we spend all but the last five minutes of the game crashing against their well-thought out and hard to break defence, before Binksy storms in on a motorbike, provides an amazing mobile spawn point and we all sow confusion and bullets among the base before stealing the flag to open the scoring floodgates that see us score 3 flags for a 3-0 victory before the game timer ticks out.

So much more, too, with haveasafeday habitually bringing helicopters and motorbikes to the right place at the right time, binksy and our un-squad defenders frantically tying up a couple of waves of incoming attackers on that greenery and railway map, and psychokitten firing Javelins from the back of my motorbike as we ramp our way up Hay and round combineharvester.

The premium 360 edition keeps going up in price. 43 on Amazon now.. it's cheaper to buy it with Microsoft points. You'd think at this point they'd put it on sale to bring in a few more players at the end of the life cycle of the game.

Ahhh. Legacy controls for aircraft. Lovely. Now I can fly! This game has so many unexpected moments when u think u r doing shit like taking out a fully occupied attack heli with a stinger, on the flag in conquest, followed straight after by taking down a jet. Get up, turn round and take out 2 guys with sub, all in a matter of seconds. Its really quite exquisite

Shame the map packs are over priced. Never purchased one and would have purchased all of them if priced at 800.

I own all gears 3 maps, all halo reach maps etc...why? Because they get fucking reduced!

Bf3 maps? Noooooooooo. Too late now anyway considering we are 7 ish months away from bf4.

I'm concerned for bf4 being 'more accessible'. Its the whole 'wider audience' thing that damaged soooo many original ip's.

They've already ruined the series to an extent by doing that, so I'd hope they dont go any further in that direction.

Perhaps I'm being stupidly optimistic, but I'd hope that BF4 would maybe bring back some of the things that had been omitted from BF2.

I was going to get online last night and get started on End Game...
However, I had to download the update and End Game itself. So that was my night buggered!
    I'll try again tonight.

I played this, drunk as a lord, until four am last night. Somehow, I haven't damaged my kill-death ratio (not that that makes much of a difference). Switching to shotguns on the tighter maps are a licence to rack up cheap kills, it seems.

    Still terrible at sniping.

Do people recommend pushing through with one class/weapon for a while or is it better to spread things out a bit. At the moment, aftr nine hours of play time, I'm a level ten specialising as an Engineer. I'd be very lost without the rocket launcher, etc.

I found it easiest to level up as Assault and Support - chucking out medpacks and ammo boxes racks you up shit loads of points and ribbons.
Engineer and Recon I struggle with a bit more.

It depends on the map/gamemode. I play Rush a lot and different classes/weapons are better for different bases, or if you are defending or attacking (it's the beauty of this game). But that comes with experience, I've got in close to 500 hours. I would suggest just playing the class you feel comfortable with for now, with obvious exceptions. For example, I wouldn't take engineer on Metro, apart from maybe the third base attacking and only as a last resort if we can't break through. Just a small tip, Assault is the class that is the easiest to play because of the med kit. Take an AEK and medkit and rain down death, but keep throwing the medkit, especially on corners.

Also, about choppers. The best way to practice is to go into server options and select a map with a chopper, like Kharg Island or Kaiser railroad, and find an empty server (very easy, just scroll to the last page). Then just practice your flying. Even after 500 hours I've been doing this for the Scout chopper as I've been useless in it and want to improve.

There are also some good youtube channels offering some good advice. Two of the best are http://www.youtube.com/user/rivaLxfactor and http://www.youtube.com/user/LevelCapGaming Both are on PC but their tips/tutorials are mostly still relevant to console.

Its a mixture of sticking to the gun you love and your favourite playstyle and reacting to what's happening in the game. Playing as engineer, squad gets wiped out, you pick up dead soldiers assault kit and revive the squad etc

Am going back to the default class weapons as I still enjoy them.

With the engineer, make good use of the repair tool. Can use it in scout/transport helicopters whilst flying. Is a great asset to keep tanks and attack helicopters going.

Would love to join up, but tonight's the night my partner comes home early. Can't see me getting any Live time, sadly. I have a few days alone, soon, and expect to become a grubby wreck on the sofa. Will give you a shout then if you like?
