I reckon they should do a new Waverace with Nintendo characters. Watching Bowser's fat ass on a jetski going around Dolphin Park would be ace.

    I'd buy it anyway.
So... You're saying you'd buy Mario kart?

I'd buy WaveRace. Mario themed would be fine.

My Wii U arrived today - brand new Premium Mario/Luigi bundle from Amazon. The console's defective. As soon as I turn it on it makes a horrendous, loud-pitched buzzing noise. I assume it's the fan; it makes the noise when completely idle, without a disc in it.

What's my best option for returning/fixing it? Going through Amazon's appealing as I live near an Amazon locker to drop it off. But it's just the console unit I want replaced and if possible I'd prefer not to have to bag up all the individual components again. Has anyone had experience of Nintendo tech support? Any good?

(And before anyone suggests: yes I've tried putting the console horizontally, vertically, diagonally, on top of my head - I'm sure it's not right. The buzz is so loud it drowns out the TV).

Sorry, I realise loud-pitched isn't a real term. It's just this constant loud buzzing is driving me crazy oh my god please make it stop I can't take it any more.

I'd always go with Amazon. They're very good at replacing defective items. Often they send out the replacement before receiving the defective item from the customer.

@Luckyjim Thanks - I think that's the option I'm going to go with. I've finally managed to cram everything back into the box. That was some short-lived Wii U excitement. I had a whole stack of games lined up, ready to go. Oh well, let's hope it's worth the wait.

I've bought the Lego City premium from Tesco - picking it up Tuesday. Really very psyched - first console I've bought myself for over 5 years.

You should obviously get a replacement, but I think it's just the grey/black/brown cable touch the fan, you can see it behind the grille.

@Fake_Blood I had a quick look and couldn't see anything. But I think you're right - it sounds suspiciously like a loose cable being twanged repeatedly by the fan.

You people are wrong! We don't need a new Waverace, we need a new Splashdown! I have never played Waverace and it's entirely possible that it's better than Splashdown in every single way.

What's the status on that new IP that Miyamoto was supposed to be working on? Is it possible we'd see it at E3?

Considering the trajectory being plotted by Miyamoto's recent output I dread to think what could follow Wii Music.

    Wii Finger Painting?

That babysitting game already exists on Wii. I even think the first 2 features were almost spot on. It's on sale on Shopto, and was so monumentally brilliant they left no room for a sequel to expand.

It's called Babysitting mama and GiantBomb tried it, just google "don't shake the baby".

I am worried that when I tried to think of the worst unique idea ever, someone else had already thought of it but considered it to be a good idea.

I am intrigued as to what ideas they thought were too shit to develop.

Probably some sort of vet game based around collecting 'material' from different species for artificial insemination purposes.

/Move Wii Remote back and forth slowly to arouse Rasher the pig

Miyamoto was hot to trot but Iwata exercised his veto, which was a disappointment for the grinning designer, he'd already designed a whole mini-game around tossing off dolphins.

Can someone that owns Sonic Racing Transformed tell me what the hell you're supposed to do to play the game off-screen?

@Ror1984 You've got to sort of drag down from the top of the touch screen. It's pretty weird because there's no icon to drag down or something you just do it and then an icon pops up. You do the reverse to get it back on the TV again. The only reason I know that is because somebody mentioned it on here when it first came out.

@MatMan562 Cheers for that! I tried bloody everything (I did even swipe on the screen a bit, but obviously not correctly). I was starting to think there was no off-screen mode (there's nothing in the manual, either...), but the back of the box says there is.

I actually re-bought it on Wii U for about ten quid (already had it on 360) because I thought I'd play it more on the GamePad, so I was starting to get a bit frustrated.

I do wish it was a consistent way that you activated Off TV Play. I know it's added by each developer, but I'm sure Nintendo could've requested that they do it a particular way. Heck, for all I know they did ask that and were reminded they're lucky to have someone else making games at all.

That said, I encountered a game breaking bug in Mass Effect 3. Turns out I'd accidentally quick saved just before I hit the bug because the quick save button is the same one you hold for Off TV Play. That worked out well :)

Yeah, it'd be nice if it was as quick and simple as, say, Wind Waker - a quick press of select and the image jumps from TV to GamePad.
