@midi82 I bought it too, been keeping an eye out for an impulse buy price as I did enjoy the PC version and this will be perfect for slouching on the couch and playing on the gamepad.

Those controllers went fast, I wonder if I should've bought two.

I only ever browse EG in the 'Mobile' format, even on a 1080p monitor. I can't stand the other implementations of the site so if there are buttons, signatures and other things, I never see them :)
I always use 'Mobile' format for the 3DS browser. Although the forum is the only section I can read now because recently they've added more javascript to their news article pages, and consequently the pages never load because the 3DS runs out of memory. :(

I can understand most websites not having the 3DS browser on top of their 'to do' list but I think a gaming website like Eurogamer should.

The pro controller is awesome, just as good as advertised. Everything about it is brilliant, including the battery life and dpad. If only it had analog triggers it would be the best controller yet.
It's great but doesn't feel as comfy in the hand as the awesome Wavebird, such a shame they didn't reuse that shape and improve the triggers and 2nd stick...
I have a Wavebird, haven't used it since using the pro controller, but thw pro seems to even more comfortable to hold.

I've actually struggled with the d-pad on the Pro Controller for Street Fighter II Turbo. Maybe i'm just rubbish, but the d-pad isn't placed in the best position. You end up pressing Up and Right, rather than just Right, at times. Or at least I do, and it's annoying!

    Hey guys!

Wii U games. They don't need that thing you waggle and can all be controlled off the gamepad? What about the Pro controller, can I use that on most games such as Lego City?

I'm talking about SP here. If I were to take it around to a mates house who's got a Wii U, then they could be used for the other players?
The only games I know that it doesn't work with are ZombiU and Nintendo Land, and someone just mentioned Lego City.

Must admit the Gamepad has been relegated to under the bed since getting the pro controller.

I'd probably use it more if not for the pathetic 3 hour battery life.

What makes that worse, is the Gamepad switches on even if you turn the Wu on with the pro controller, and doesn't even auto switch off.

I think someone on this thread said the opposite of that, that it doesn't turn on if you turn the machine on with the pro, but that's not the case with me. I'm wondering if their gamepad was just out of battery :D

Haven't tried any fighters on mine, but the d-pad certainly seems legit, a classic Nintendo d-pad. I'll try it out with a fighter and see.

I'm not really a fighter man but I always assumed sticks would be best for it, like in arcades... different for consoles?
  • Deleted user 3 October 2013 14:46:57
A good pad is great for fighters, with a good d-pad. I was pretty decent at SF4 on the MadCatz fightpad.

I even grew up playing fighters in the arcade, but I've never been as good on a stick. I play much better on a pad. Generally speaking the elite players do use a stick, but you do get legit tournament players who use pads.

Come to think of it, I think the pro controller with its digital triggers would be excellent for fighters. Would make 1 face button + 2 triggers much better. 6 face buttons would be better obviously, but the digital triggers would be better than analog for fighters.

So, that Wii U... lovely piece of kit, isn't it?
    /strokes new hardware

I'm not really stroking the console by the way. I'm at work. And I can't wait to get home after updating the system and downloading Zelda WW in the lunch break.

Very good btw, I didn't get it at first :D A Better Tomorrow is one of my lesser known Woo titles.

The Killer is my favourite, probably my favourite action film.

I'm keeping an eye out for any bundles with the new bundle,if that makes sense. A decent Wind Waker set + extras offer might just tip me over the edge....

Great time to buy it really (although wish it was a bit cheaper).

With the latest firmware in there and all the functionality that brings along with recent and upcoming games, you will definitely have enough to keep you busy.

It might be a nice wee console but it sure acts like the big boys when it comes to updating software.

Anything I need to know before I transfer all my Wii content to the Wii U?

It is yep, his second best film, but I still think The Killer is his best film by a clear margin.

Same here, I didn't transfer because beyond all fucking reason, it deletes all your saves from your Wii, but the animation is superb.

Have seen some time comparisons of before and after when navigating round the OS and Nintendo have made some noticeable speed improvements with this new firmware.

Folk are reporting they can hear the wii u fan now, dunno, mine is behind glass so I wouldnt hear it anyway.

A few sharp folk have noted that the juicing animation and landing on planets in Pikmin 3 no longer suffer from slowdown. Could be a Pikmin 3 patch which fixed that or maybe the OS overhead has dropped considerably with the new firmware.

No idea at this point. All good though.

Why is the Zelda bundle contain just a download copy and not a physical copy of the game?

Edit: I'm likely to get one soon. Can I download the games onto any external hard drive?

Edited by beastmaster at 10:44:36 04-10-2013

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.
