@BTBAM - new characters start back at lvl 1. Some people have multiple characters levelled up close to 50.

When you complete the game once (sounds like you're not far off), you have the option to commence True Vault Hunter Mode - starting the story again which your character and all equipment from your first playthrough. It does sound too great, but is excellent.

That's how you get to lvl 50. And don't forget the DLC.

Finally, ignore farming. It's only really for people determined to get all of the Legendary weapons etc.

And then there are nutters like moi.

Unlocked the Plat a week or so ago, and now have all five characters at Lv50, plus a Lv20ish Zero purely for holding/trading weapons between characters.

My secret ? Splitscreen. Scales the difficulty up to match the two players, but is managable with a decently equipped character, so I'd hammer through with a Lv50, while the other one soaked up the XP hiding by the spawnpoint.

    ED:
    The Tediore Technician
    The Jakobian Sheriff
    The Hyperion Industrial Spy
    The Spec Ops Dahl-ling
And the Original Maliwan Fanboi !
    -c+p from our lil' group.

Saved a few hours, certainly, and helped combat the repetition of playing through the story ten times. Think my Maya has only just reached Sanctuary in terms of story, but is still at maximum level-wise.
I've defenitely enjoyed this much more than the original, despite the ropey drop rate....

Yeah I got all five at 50 as well. Did it without splitscreen too, they're all solo except my Siren, done legitimately. 8 complete playthroughs solo, two of them in two player online with a friend. After about my 4th time through I could race through it, knowing which quests to leave and which to take for maximum efficiency.

I have 4 level fifties, no maya yet. The last one, a gunzerker I did use the evil smasher glitch a couple of times to speed the xp gain (I must be one of the few people to get some use out of Moxxi's endowment relic), but I don't feel guilty about that, though I wouldn't use it for anything I do at level fifty or MP.

I'm wondering what the rumoured new character could be about. The only approach for the action skill I can think of would be a direct-damage skill of some sort like bloodwing from BL1.

BL2 partially fired back in the drop rate stakes, by giving me Flames of the Firehawk for the 3rd time of 4 playthroughs.

Flame of the Firehawk is a quest reward, you get it every time you complete the quest.

Is there any word on when the level cap increase is coming? I've been saving some of the dlc for it because otherwise it feels like wasted XP.

I reckon they'll up the level cap with the first DLC of season pass 2.

Which would be a bit of a liberty, so I hope they don't.

In the first game they upped the level cap with a random patch that was free to everyone. It doesn't necessarily have to coincide with DLC.

So it could come literally anytime then? Fair enough, thanks!

Just had my 1st go at a raid boss. Tried soloing Pyro Pete. Farmed the bar brawl until I had 400 anarchy stacks, then died in short order on my 1st attempt. Got a bit of a technique dialled after a few tries, but the pleds spawned by using the water pipes ended up at lvl 60 and I died again not long after getting his shield down. Think I'll start the Pirate DLC and come back when I've got a Sandhawk to have a go at him with.

^ Yeah they're all pains in the arse solo but Pete is definitely the easiest. The Sandhawk definitely helps, get either a normal or electric (for his shields) combined with the Bee and it's decent for him.

Just remember, his nova attack is line of site based, as long as there's something between you and him (like scaffolding) it shouldn't hit you. It gets a bit tricky when he jumps right on top of you but then you just RUN.

Looking forward to the level cap/next character. The Mechromancer was excellent so here's hoping.

I think it's likely that it won't be tied to DLC, so it'll be free to everyone. Couldn't even guess on the release date though. Seems like they're pretty close to announcing something so we won't have long to wait.

I'd rather have actual Sniper since we already have an awesome Melee character

    Surely Zer0 is a sniper.....? That's how I've spec'd mine, and he's awesome.

Jut bought this, 17 quid from HMV as they have a closing down sale. Played a couple of hours. Already addicted to looting! Chose Zero as my character, but not really using him properly. Still getting used to it all

Zer0 is either an awesome sniper or an awesome melee character. He does both about twice as well as any other character, but he's cripplingly over specialised if you go the whole way down either tree.

@Metalfish Can you change character type mid way through the game? Right now I'm just going in all guns blazing! Clearly chose the wrong character!

You can't change char mid-way, I'm afraid. But none of the characters are bad, Zer0 can feel a bit fragile at higher levels, but the middle tree combined with his run the hell away powers are perfectly adequate for run and gun.

Going in all guns blazing is the best way to play this game.

I prefer to pick a few off with sniper rifles before jumping in with the blazing guns.

There's quite a broad selection of play styles. My natural territory is to hang back and snipe, which I did in my first playthrough with Axton. Gaige's Anarchy skill forced me to adopt a different style, I enjoyed both.

I pick off a few choice baddies with snipers. Then charge in with assaults/handguns.
