Errr... that is, if the numbers some random guy on a forum posted are accurate, and he didn't leave anything out. We all know people on the Internet never distort the truth to try and prove their point...

Gearbox has said this game has tons more guns than the first one, I'd trust them more.

I've personally experienced more variety of gun effects (not looks) in this game, but then I never played the DLC of the first one much.
The hard data is available and the figures are accurate.

You do realise that's just how the guns appear right? Not how they behave?

LB, you really are a massive geek.

Tediore SMG's are the best grenades

Yes I know. Even if you include everything, BL2 still has far less combinations. This is because there are (I think) less parts per weapon, less weapon types and less manufacturers (9 in the first game, 8 in the second). It's further compounded by certain things being limited to manufacturers. In the first game, almost any gun could have explosive element, now it's just Torgue. This drastically reduces weapon variety for the sake of making Torgue feel unique. It also doesn't help that some stats are obscured for no reason, such as zoom. The zooms are different but the stat is never displayed, just showing this stat would improve looting a little as it's another stat to look out for.

Even if every unique appearance was slaved to a stat set - and they aren't - that's 61,000 and more unique weapons. You going to get through them all?

LB, you really are a massive geek.

Dark Souls has 45 weapons. What a fucking waste of time, Borderlands 2 is like 1,500 times better!

Yup, I'd seen virtually every weapon design by the end of my first playthrough. At the point I'm at now I'm just not seeing anything new anymore (oranges aside), and in terms of weapon stats you hardly ever see anything really interesting.

Weapons from the same manufacturer all feel the same, I mean, every Jakobs pistol and shotgun feels the exact same, they really do. Sure, one might fire 14 pellets and another 16, one might fire two rounds per shot instead of three, but functionally they don't really feel any different, they have the same characteristics. In the first game you could get two Jakobs shotguns that feel completely different to one another.

    Quoting for amusement. I lol'd.

Again I get where ecu is coming from, I've seen most of the weapon designs (I assume) but it doesn't really matter. Most of the guns I get behave differently, effects and so forth and I still think having a Jakobs pistol rocks for the animation.

It's just disappointing, that's all. Considering the game is a vast improvement in every other department, it's a shame that it's regressed in the most important area of all. At least Gearbox is aware of the issue.

The orange items you farm from bosses being the best items in the game seems like a poor decision, your best guns should be random and personal to you.

Although I'm nowhere near level 50 so that's not a problem, yet.

One thing that irritates me a bit is that it I always enjoy going into areas I shouldn't in games, trying to push a bit beyond my level to see how far I can get.

In BL2 it doesn't seem worth it. Aside from a bit more XP from killing characters a few levels beyond yourself, the loot you get is unusable because it's all scaled to the area.
They should reward you with better loot than you'd normally get for your level.

Is it worth going back to farm some of the earlier bosses? For instance, i'm currently level 24, so would the early baddies drop something of use for that level?

This game has been really fucking me off tonight. Doing the "Perfectly Peaceful" mission in the Caustic Caverns, and even though the mission is rated as trivial and level 15 (I'm level 27 so I thought it would be quick and easy) the area is full of all the most irritating enemies in the game (crystalisks, vakrids, and FUCKING threshers) all at least level 25 or higher. It's taken me almost 2 hours to trudge around this area following the waypoints and being assaulted by these cunts every ten steps forward, and then the game crashes just before I reach the third Echo tape.

Bollocks to carrying on in this shitty area.

All the eurogamers who actually play with each other on xbl rather than just post pseudointellectual pc handwringing bollocks on the forums, love the shit out of biggy.

I am doing the quest now, I do not like it. Enemies must scale though because I'm only nineteen and they are all level 19-22.

Areas tend to be levelled to the highest available quest there I think.

Well that's Caustic done for a little while, mopped up some side quests I had there and did another new one I found there. Half way to 21 on Axton now.

Well to be honest all 3 trees look really interesting, BFF tree is far more geared towards survivability, the other 2 have some really nice combat buffs in them. I'll probably go all the way down the LBT tree and put a few in the other 2.

    Really!?

I think Gaige will be my next SP character, once I've finished the main game with Zer0

So I assume we download this Mechromancer stuff through the extras bit on the main menu like the usual season pass/pre-order guff?

I look forward to trying it out. I'm only at lev 27 on first run though, but just about to head to opportunity after having a fun time in lynchwood and doing some other side stuff.

Annoyingly, I died right at the end of wave 4 of the 4th challenge for Finks bandit thing and will have to try that again. Bah. My absorbance shield didn't quite abosorb as much ammo as I needed.

I now have a nagging sniper. It's good, but may become a smidge annoying in time. :)

According to Steam I'm already up to 92 hours on Borderlands 2, compared to 58 hours for B1 and DLC...

Maybe it's time I went outside for a bit.

Combining the Ricochet skill with the Anarchy tree seems like a good idea

There are a lot of interesting game mechanics around reloading there. Magazine is full? Health regen. Let it run dry? Hit harder but with less accuracy. Reload before then? Health regen, accuracy. Either way you can cause an electrical explosion.

Turning the simple act of reloading into a strategic asset? Genius, Gearbox.

Wondering if they'll nerf The Bee with this update. Probably won't download it just yet if they do.
