Sadly, that is tempting. The police one is easy as there's after-game stuff that helps. I was only on about 8.5 when I finished the story but half the drug busts was enough to fill the rest. With the Triad it would seem that once you've done the story there's nothing left but to get the 15% bonus suit on and re-do the missions.

My GOTY so far.
I loved every aspect of this game : Hong Kong is a wonderful creation, it feels alive and there are things to do on every corner. The hand-to-hand combat is excellent, it does borrow from Arkham Asylum but is more realistic and MUCH more brutal.
The gunplay, whilst rare for a game of this kind, is really solid and meaty - excellent ragdoll physics on enemies too.
The driving, which may be too "arcadey" for some peoples tastes, sat really well with me. The sense of speed in some cars is brilliantly done and it puts some racing games to shame.
The story played out perfectly. There was really good voice acting all-round and the characters were all brought to life.
All in all, i finished the main story and did a LOT of the (excellent) side quests, i clocked in with a final play time of 26 hours and 18 minutes - a perfect amount of time that zipped along nicely and didnt outstay its welcome.
I really hope the sales have been up to Square Enix's expectations and that a sequel has already been unofficially greenlit.
like i said, my GOTY so far :
10/10
Absolutely loved it. I really hope everyone else is still enjoying it and that the sales are racking up nicely - i NEED a sequel for this!"Look at banner Michael!"

Registered 2 years agoAlready clocked 11ish hours. The combat is quite difficult, really gratifying, but difficult. Especially timing counters on the guys that carry knives.
Really good game though. I'm loving the Drugs Bust missions. -

Registered 5 years agoHow much better is the shaky cam issue (after the new patch) when driving fast? I felt quite sick when driving fast with that 'feature'.
The patch started to download last night but I haven't had a chance to play it since.FLOPS! RAM!

Registered 7 years agoLiterally the only fault I can find with this game is that the cars dont sound meaty enough. That's it.
Reminds me of Assassins Creed 2 in that it's so much fun to be in the world, I'm obsessed with getting the collectables.
The fighting is fantastic, I beat up some thugs and just stood and looked at the scene afterwards, bodies everywhere, one guy with his head in a ventilation shaft, another with his head in a car door. Me covered in blood. It's great.
A more polished sequel would be most welcome. -

Registered 9 years agoGetting the hang of combat now.
Knife wielders need a good quick counter and immediate follow up.
Don't let grapplers near, run the fuck away then blast at them with a flying kick to the face. If they go for you try and counter and immediate combo.
Everyone else I find a good deal of grappling and tackle/pickup/smash face against something hard loops work well.
Top game. -

Registered 9 years agoThe melee combat is lovely, apart from those big fuckers. I hope they die in a fire. Every time one grabs me and I get the hammer Y QTE it doesn't matter how much or how fast I press, I get thrown to the floor (unless there's someone in front of me and I get the X to kick then hammer Y, in which case it always works). And the cars do feel like Scalextric, but otherwise, it's a great game. -

Registered 2 years agoYeah; I tend to try to clear everybody else before tackling the grapplers, and when facing them regiment myself to a couple of strikes then run away. -

Registered 4 years agoI actually like the driving - its not realistic in the slightest but it fucking fun. Mainly due to the ridiculous speed of some of the high end cars and bikes.
It's really surprised me this game, it really deserves to do well -

Registered 2 years agoI've just finished the story which was immense, if not a little patchy in places but no game nowadays has a perfect story. Trying to clean up remaining tasks but my map is now empty and my Achievements are saying that I still have open world events, favors and street races (2) left.
Is there something I have to do to unlock these remaining tasks and races? The events I'm guessing is just a case of driving around and hoping you hit the icon on your minimap, but shouldn't the favors and races be showing up? -

the races will show up, when you buy the required class bike or car for the race, and some events only show up, on the mini map, when you are in close vicinity. -

Registered 2 years ago@uk-kob That's the thing, I have bought all the vehicles. I have the Auto Enthusiast Achievement, but no street races. Look at my map, it has nothing left on it for me to do apart from the High Speed DLC for Cop rep, which was easily maxed during the story.
The only other things I can point out which may help figure this out are that I'm not max Triad yet, I'm only 8/10, and I don't have all clothing yet, still missing loads. Here's my map with some pasted in cuts from my stats:

Oh and I saw people complaining about the Valet - if he is just bringing you bikes, you haven't configured him. You need to go to a parking garage (where you normally get vehicles) and in the top right you'll see "no vehicle chosen for the valet" or something similar. When you select a vehicle in the menu, there's a button you can press to have that brought by the valet every time, so you CAN pick, it's just not very intuitive.

ohh I see, you might also need to complete the story mission fast girls, and then phone sandra, and take her on a date this should unlock 2 more races.
hope this helps?

Registered 8 years agoAbsolutely loving this game...
And it has to be said, GTA has a lot to live up to in a few areas compared to this. The fighting mechanics for example, GTA 5 would have to equal or beat Sleeping Dogs in order to impress me. The same goes for gunplay and the life that seems to pump through the veins of the 'Semi-Recreation' of Hong Kong, not to mention the 'Mirror's Edge/Brink/Assassins Creed'-like free-running that features here-in. The story and voice acting here is also very good... So I'm left with the question, "How can GTA better this?".
Don't get me wrong, I sure as hell hope it does... 'Cos it would be one hell of a game. But I can't help but feel that GTA 5 will feel a little flat in some areas after playing through Sleeping Dogs.
Also, as others have said, I damn well hope the sales figures were good for this.... Meaning we'll get a Sleeping Dogs 2 (If so, it'll probably be Next Gen).

Just completed this.
Yeah, not bad at all. Got a bit repetitive and it was a little janky but overall I think they did a pretty damn good job.
The story was surprisingly good but I got quite bored of the non combat/espionage missions. Unarmed combat was mostly excellent but I really felt like some more enemy types would have added some much needed variety as the game wore on. The gunplay was pretty tight and I really liked the Vanquish like slowmo mechanic. The driving was fine for the most part but it was a little unrefined for just cruising the streets.
Hong Kong was a nice change from America and it brought back fond memories of MSR on the Dreamcast but I think I'm spoiled by Rockstar's worlds as I didn't really care to interact too much with the world or its populace. In fact I thought the open world just got in the way of all the missions, I didn't bother with most of the side stuff as it felt like filler busywork.
I enjoyed it and I hope they do a sequel because with a bit of refinement they could have something special here.
A high 7/10 -

The medium option pretty much does the job. With everything set to max, the medium and high AA options literally halves the frame rate :/
