Most Utd fans I know say that the team hasn't been performing for the last 4 years but the team keeps on winning. I agree with that. The team is getting worse too. And still are top by 7 points.

Offensively Man Utd have been ridiculously good. It doesn't really matter that their defence is poor because they know they've got goals in them.

I'm sure Ferguson will sort out the defence before they really get caught out again for being so poor defensively.

They'll win the league, with ease. Mancini out in the summer.

Goals /= entertainment for me. A sublime Pirlo pass and things of that ilk does. I suppose that's the difference.

Bet you hated it when you beat Wigan 9-0 or whatever it was a couple of years back.

Just watching motd now,  What the hell is with this opinion that the Norwich keeper shouldn't have been allowed to save the "backpass" from his own player.  Surely its just common sense that the keeper is allowed to save it from going into the net!

Yeah, we're playing quite oddly this year, have put in some top defensive performances at your place and during large periods of the Chelsea, City and Liverpool away games. However in all the others there just seems to be the mentality 'We'll score more than you', maybe not the most perfect footballing philosophy, certainly not from Morriss' point of view, but I can't say I don't find it entertaining.

The winning mentality the squad has is absolutely ridiculous too, which drives the team over the line just as much as ability.

Was a weird one, not often a back pass is above head height but I reckon Mancini was right and it should've been an indirect FK.

Thats never been my understanding,  i'm sure I've seen keepers saving back passes before. I mean it's not like he caught it. The rule was hardly drafted to punish the defending team in this kind of situation.

I thought the general consensus was that the top 4's quality has dipped but the rest of the league has improved?
No doubt about it, the top 4 has dipped but the likes of Swansea, Stoke, Everton and even newly promoted teams like Norwich and West Ham are far stronger than their equivalents in the last 10 years. Much harder to break down (WBA, Stoke, West Ham) or more positive in their attacking (Swansea, Norwich, Wigan).

Or maybe the improvement in the chasing pack have made the top 4 look less invincible?

We are playing the best football we have since the 80s.

For me one of the major reasons we are seeing so many goals is the popular tactic of getting the wingbacks up front. I suspect improvements in fitness are a factor in this; players have the stamina to do it. The result is more attacking prowess, but less focused defending. It is a notion of total football, and there is nothing wrong with it.

Yeah, it's incredible, to be honest. The team never gives up.

No Fellaini, Coleman, Gibson or Mirallas... just want to get through this without taking too much of a battering.

    @FWB

Chances of that lot being unavailable for the game on Wednesday?

    Please say high.

I know its early in the game, but having watched Everton a few times this season, I do love the football they play.

Fellaini will be back, hopefully Gibson too. Other two... nope.

    That was quick.

Fee agreed for Debuchy to NUFC

Better late than never. Hopefully we'll never have to see Simpson in the shirt again.

Just seen MOTD and for Walcott's second goal Tiote is no more than 8-10 feet away from him, lets him control it, take another touch, turn 180 degrees and shoot...and never moves. Nobody on MOTD even touched on that. You can really see it from the behind the goal cam.

He was also suspect throughout the build up and scoring of the Podolski goal.

Yup. Tiote's form this season been a definite negative. I don't know any Newcastle fan who is happy with him, and I'm personally sick and tired of his performances and lack of discipline.

edit; with that said, maybe he's had one eye on his disciplinary problems when not getting stuck in when he could have.

Unfortunately he's the only real 'destroyer' we've got. Anita and Bigirimana (two of our best players this season, delighted with both them given they're new signings) are creative players and not of the same build or defensive mindset.

Don't see what benefit there would be to getting rid tbh. Lots of experience, fit, good influence etc.

De ja fecking vu. Dominate, don't take the chances and other team nicks it. Should be three up. Sigh.
