I think the whole pass/fail thing is probably not the most accurate way to describe it. I suspect clubs just decide whether it's worth the risk based on a medical, as opposed to there being a consistent criteria for passing across all clubs.

There are more criteria than 'is his knee going to give way?' too.

The classic being west ham trying to resign carlton cole, who had spent so much time sat on the bench he failed his medical on fitness grounds.

    FFS UEFA:

Manchester City's plans for next season's Champions League campaign have received a huge boost after it was confirmed the club will only need to name five rather than eight home-grown players in their reduced 21-man squad.

Considering the rules for home grown player allow Clichy to be classed as a home grown player it's an utter farce anyway the home grown player rules.
  • Deleted user 12 June 2014 09:04:30
That rule was always about a proportion of homegrown players, so it is sort of fair enough that the number is reduced tbh.

I'll say this, of all the top prem teams he could go to, that was the one that needed him the least. Chelsea are absolutely laden in midfield.

Depends what we do really. Both in the transfer market and during the season.
