Yeah, I don't think the Nasri one was a red either.

He knee'd him and then swung his leg in. It seems like a pretty clear red to me.

    Its barely a foul

Fish fingers and chips pretty straight forward.

It's borderline, but for me not quite enough for a red. It's a horrible tackle for sure, but straight reds tend to be studs in, or both feet. It's aggressive and really poor, but still right at the far end of a yellow for me.

Gah, doing the very thing I hate...

He seems to have the same stylist as Rough Copy (who?).

Always with the Rough Copy. Let it go, they weren't even in the final.

I was under the impression that lashing out in an aggressive manner was considered a red card offence. He tackled him twice, failed to get the ball and then kicked him in the knee out of frustration. Looks like a red to me.

In my fantasy world of citing this would be discussed by a panel and the rules would be looked over and a decision would be made. I doubt it would stop this sort of thing happening as I don't believe most players do it out of maliciousness, it's more of a red mist situation, but it would at least lead to a fairer outcome after the match.

You are a factory of sadness.

Shame for Nasri he has been playing well. Bit of a cunty tackle that.

If it was off the ball it would be a red, but there is room to interpret it as a tackle attempt (a very poor one admittedly).

    It's not cut and dry.

I fear the day that sort of foul becomes a clear red card - we'll have games finishing 8 vs 8, ten penalties awarded to Sterling every week, human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria.

No it's not, that's where the panel would have to make a decision. Personally I see it as him lashing out through frustration as it is clear he has lost the ball but clearly there is a level of interpretation around that as not everyone agrees it was a straight red.

You are a factory of sadness.

I had it pegged as a very cynical attempt to take him down. He had already missed so swung a leg.

I can see why it's being discussed, but I wonder whether it would be receiving the same attention if Nasri hadn't been injured? Does a bad challenge become more reckless if a player is injured as a result?

You mean, all players should angrily lash out with their leg when they get frustrated and clearly have no chance of getting the ball?

OK, but the system you're proposing is the very system that is now in place.

No, it just becomes more talked about. I bet everyone's already forgotten Nolan on Suarez last month because it had no negative outcome for Suarez but it was among the worst this season.

When Samir Nasri has the ball? Yes, without exception.

Oh dear, Nasri has broken his vagina...

Anyhoo, have we seen what Jason " He's been for a shit" Puncheon has accused Neil Warnock of?

He claims that Warnock ensures players have bonuses and appearance fee's tied in to their contracts so that these fee's can be paid to Warnock himself in exchange for players being picked or put on the bench!

Similar accusations were made against Big Sam and Redknapp on TV a few years back and they didn't take any legal action to challenge it.
  • Deleted user 13 January 2014 15:14:52
I don't quite follow the accusation. So players pay him directly to get picked?

The stuff he says about training is certainly true. Warnock won't move away from Cornwall so only turns up for match days.

The accusation is that youth players would only get game time if they agree to give the manager their appearance fee / win bonus.

Managers also apparently insist young players sign on with friendly agents who are in on the deal.
