I don't think sacking AVB now was the right decision, but I can see the case for it.

What I don't understand is why there isn't more questioning of the people who are having to do all this hiring and firing in the first place.

It's like if you kept hiring underwhelming staff in the office. You just wouldn't get away with it, surely?

Say, you headhunt an exciting Spanish guy. He comes over, you interview him, offer him the job. But it turns out he can't adapt to the different way of doing things in your office. Sacked.

Get an old hand in to steady the ship. Sure he occasionally dips into the fridge and takes your lunch, but he does pretty well. But no, you think, it's time for another exciting foreign guy. He's young as well, and we're going to spend a lot to give him the staff he needs on his team in the office. But it all goes wrong. Again.

Poor you. What bad luck that you keep hiring the wrong staff.
Are you saying Harry Redknapp was stealing peoples sandwiches?
No wonder he got the sack. Gross misconduct right there.

I wonder how the spurs fans on the forum feel about Baldini now? They were harping on over the summer about what a great acquisition he was.

When you can't see the angles on the wall you're in trouble.

I don't get what all the fuss is with Baldini? Who has he signed that's poor? AVB didn't manage or motivate them properly.

Does this mean Spurs are going to start scoring?

Klinsmann to return and win the league.

It's a crap sacking and will effectively write off the rest of the season. I'm pretty sure AVB would have had a chance of engineering a run at 4th spot. Players will now be thinking where they might go next summer.

There's a form of panic or anxiety that's so bad that an otherwise rational person can choose certain death rather the continued anxiety. e.g. hanging by your fingernails off a bridge - so scared of falling that you let go. This is what Levy has done.

Is klinsmann any good as a manager? Don't remember him doing anything. Not at club level anyway.

He did well for Germany, but he had Loew as his No2 IIRC....

I don't think it was panic and anxiety. AVB got smart with the DOF comments and that was it. The reporter gave him the opportunity to shirk some responsibility, and he took it.

They arent going to go with anyone who has even a small element of risk. The only thing they can do now is throw money at a safe pair of hands. I would argue that this puts even Laudrup out of the running.

Seems like a good fit potentially. But just not sure if he is a good manager or not.

He is managing the states right?

    Edit: re klinsmann

I think he just got a contract extension at the USA, and they've got the World Cup in six months.

Plus I think he likes living in LA too much to come over.

    David Moyes cancels Christmas

A source told The Sun: 'This year's Christmas lunch contrasted heavily to those under Sir Alex Ferguson, which were filled with fun.

'This time it was far more serious thanks to the new managers' speech. The youth team stars were gutted not to put on a show'.

According to The Sun, Ferguson used to serve soup in the kitchen 'wearing a pinny' before settling down to watch the panto.

    This.

If I was Levy, I'd do everything to get Cappello.

I have no doubt that Levy will be looking at the Swansea heritage of Rodgers and Martinez and I'd put a large amount of money on him attempting to get either Laudrup or maybe even Martinez.
Would Martinez want to leave Everton for Spurs? Can't see it, and Martinez doesn't seem the type to jump ship too easily.

As for Laudrup, this could happen. There were some grumblings during the summer with Swansea, so this is where Levy might go.
Martinez nickname at Swansea is 'Judas'. He's always looking to go to a bigger club. Spurs seem like they have more money to spend than Everton, so I don't see him prevaricating too much.

    Has DiCanio all over it

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realise half of them are stupider than that
