Bit premature to say he will never reach that level?

I certainly wouldn't put all my eggs in either basket at this moment in time. He certainly has the ability and potential to get to that level imo. His last 6 months very much reminded me of Ronaldo's first breakthrough goal scoring year.

Whether or not he builds on that we'll find out this season but I certainly wouldn't be comfortable backing him to never reach that level.

He has everything in his locker, blistering pace, a wicked shot (he's even scored a few on his weaker side now) and he's built himself up a serious amount over the last season and a half - looks as strong as can be now.

Real Madrid or not I think it's a very promising season for Bale.

Probably bollocks because its from the Daily Mail
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2397451/Why-Arsene-Wenger-drowning-Arsenals-transfer-policy--pay-10-000-Alex-Oxlade-Chamberlain-plays-20-minutes.html

Wengerís detailed knowledge of every playerís contract even created an issue when Oxlade-Chamberlain was making substitute appearances for Arsenal last season.

Written into the England wingerís deal is a clause stating that Arsenal must pay Saints £10,000 every time Oxlade-Chamberlain appears for more than 20 minutes.

Incredibly a trend emerged, with Wenger bringing him off the bench after 72 minutes (v Stoke), 73 minutes (Liverpool), 72 minutes (Coventry), 65 minutes (Norwich), 76 minutes (Fulham), 86 minutes (Tottenham), 67 minutes (Swansea), 73 minutes (West Ham), 71 minutes (Swansea), and 75 minutes (Reading).

Arsenalís accounts department were stunned to receive an email from Southampton demanding payment for the appearances, with the south coast club justifying their argument based on stoppage time.

Eventually Arsenal agreed to pay for the appearances and the story worked its way around the offices at the Emirates with bafflement among staff.
There's lots of other dirt on how Arsenals scouting team don't get on with anyone etc.
I have had quite a lot of fun on twitter over the last couple of days reading #Wengerout

Both parts of that are genuinely incredible. 1) That theres a 10k per match clause and 2) Wenger would rather keep a talented player on the bench than pay it.

    It beggars belief.

As I posted in the Arsenal group, a couple of things stand out - first, why has this only come out now? And secondly, why mention the times he came on in the 65th and 67th minute?

Well it's not true, someone has made that up. I'm sure.

In other news, apparently the referee from the Arsenal v Villa match has been dropped after his performance on Saturday. Seems a trifle harsh to me, perhaps the FA are changing their policy on these things and we will see more of it. Making the referees work more pressurised seems like an odd way to go if my supposition holds weight.

You are a factory of sadness.

That doesnt happen. Its more often than not a complete coincidence that he doesnt get a game after he is perceived to have had a howler (which he didnt).

Yeah, you're probably right. Most likely it's an injury or something I guess.

I think that £93m includes Coentrao.

That is some incredible business done by Spurs, if those two reports are true. Post Bale Spurs is far better than when he was there (assuming Soldado works out).

So Liverpool and Arsenal battling it out for 5th place then.

Again I don't expect you to answer because you've skipped the question twice already.

Would you consider a £40m bid for Bale from Arsenal, a direct rival for a CL place, a joke bid? I know Levy would piss himself laughing.
I've answered it twice. From a club other than Arsenal no. From arsenal yes, but our relationship with them is different to yours.

Again, accepting a bid is different to considering it a joke. £40m is a reasonable starting bid for a player that would probably cost £55m or £60m if Madrid were not involved. It would not be a joke bid.

Now tell me again how I'm missing your point or avoiding an answer.

If the rumours are true, then we have had Paulinho, Soldado, Capoue, Chadli, Wilian and Coentrao in for roughly what we are getting for Bale.

Thats some pretty impressive business if true. Big if though.

£30m+ on Willian, and around £30m on Lamela too if reports are to be believed, so I very much doubt Bale will be staying.

Looks like it, but more than that - it will be quite a battle for the top 4 slots.

I imagine Spurs really fancy their chances for top slot; I don't see why they can't be challenging (at least) for the title, 4th spot should not be in their thoughts.

To be fair, even with all these signings, I still don't 4th place is a given.

We could challenge the top two, but we could just as easily finish 5th or 6th. Either way I'm sure it will still be close between Spurs Arsenal and Liverpool.

Wow. Considerable ambition being shown by Spurs in this window. If they do get Willian and Lamela I'll doff my cap to them. Excellent business that leaves them with a stronger squad than last season even if Bale leaves.

Let's just see what players we have in two weeks.

And then what happens in the 30 odd games that follow.

Exactly what I was just thinking. It's one thing to be excited about the players coming in, it's another thing entirely to win stuff!

For fucks sake. Every single player we look at, spurs come in and grab em. I'm starting to think our scouts are on their books
