    Take Modric and 86 million.

Man U don't know any other midfielders.

    Top 4 awaits.

I think it's extremely likely tbh. I can't see how he can possibly live up to that kind of evaluation. They will expect him to be better than Ronaldo, or at least as good, and he just isn't.

Seems Liverpool are about to sign Papadopoulos from Schalke for 16m or thereabouts.

    Me neither.

The league is a piece of piss most of the time so more goals and assists probably. Faster and fitter players won't make it that easy though. Living up to a price tag like that, tough.

What makes it even worse for Bale is Barca signed Neymar for almost half the fee. It will be a direct comparison and he'll fall very short.

He'll be fairly average until Madrid consider loaning him out to Forest and then it'll all come good.

I'd have to agree and it isn't even a remote slight on how good a player he is but it's an impossible standard to live up to.

Also what role does Bale play in a team with Ronaldo occupying the position which seemed to be the one in which he showed his best form?

See Michael Owen's Real Madrid career for details on exactly how Bale's will go.

Have a feeling he will go for some ridiculous sum of money and will flop. It won't be through lack of talent just the weight of expectation, maybe trying to hard to justify the fee.

Couple of years back to Spurs for less than 20m.

Money doesn't matter to RM. It is free, courtesy of the German people.

Modric would always be a fallback option to Fabregas, to be fair.

Owen wasn't half the player Bale is.

    I reckon he'll do well.
  • Deleted user 30 July 2013 18:52:38

Sadly, well won't be enough for RM, especially considering he's alleged price.

Perhaps. But he'll still win a few matches single-handedly.

The list of flavour of the months is endless, Robben and Wesley Schneider, clarence seedorf all got dispensed with before Champions league glory.

Real Madrid act like a child would in a videogame.

It seems we've agreed w fee with Spurs for Caulker. Getting fed up of chasing unrealistic targets.

Yep, they've dumped far better players over the years. They already have Ronaldo, so I'm not exactly sure where Ronaldo Lite can make his mark.

Being a victim of a piss arse youth conditioning program isn't the same as living up to hype from transfer fees.

Assuming Bale goes this summer, they'll both be the same age with almost 100 full games between them.

Dempsey should be a great FPL buy if Bale goes.
