@President_Weasel IMO playing no pressure games at a team like West Brom is very different to scrapping week in week out for fourth place at Arsenal. And getting European experience.

    No disrespect to west brom.
"No pressure games"? When a single place difference is worth millions, and when relegation and European places were up in the air for most of the season? If you think there was a "no pressure" game for any Premiership club until maybe the very tail end of the season, you're a mental.

Weren't West Brom comfortably in mid table all season?

If Arsenal had been top four all season would none of your games have been high pressure?

Definitely less pressure if there was nothing riding on it.

If he had been playing for Wigan or QPR or even Newcastle that would have been proper pressure. Every point counted.

@President_Weasel Also you are wrong about the prize money IMO

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2327063/Premier-League-prize-money-table-final-game-2013-season.html

The difference in mid table is nothing when you split it across a squad of 25 players. I doubt they give a shit.

    Exactly, just wasting time IMO.
Right, so you don't want us to go after players that will in all probability improve the team, given their record? You'd rather us take punts on those around £12-15m that may or may not improve the team, much like Gervinho et al?
No i'd rather we spent more time doing research and scouting on the players in the bracket that we can afford, instead of taking punts on them at the last minute because we spent all our effort on targets we knew we could never afford
So, no matter what, Wenger can't win.
Go after big players? They're being over ambitious and wasting time on players we allegedly can't get.
Go after players we can afford, like Santos, Park, Chamakh and co, and he gets he'll for buying shite players?

My point is, if we spent more time looking in our price bracket we might have ended up with Michu / Remy / Sissoko / Coutinho instead of scraping the barrel after all the clubs at our level have finished their business and ending up with Chamakh park and santos. We need to stop wasting time trying to sign Mata, and start getting in there earlier to nab the good players in our price bracket up front. Not waiting till the end for some super super quality that we can't get.

A bit like we did with Podolski last season, he's a good solid player and we went out and tied him up ASAP.
Personally I think you've gone OTT on the pessimism.
You seem to be referencing a lot to last minute panic buys, which only happened in one window. That time you speak of was spent on Gervinho, Chamakh (who was highly wanted) and Giroud. All well and good mentioning Sissoko (who's been lame past the first month) but Remy and Michu (he's the only one that can be argued about).

Oh and if we had not tried to go for the top players, we wouldn't have guys like Cazorla and Monreal.

Then if you had heard Spurs had got Cazorla for the price we got him for, you'd be the first one moaning about it in all honesty.

I think half the clubs in the league have this template. So lazy. And where are the stripes?

Given the prices being thrown around for other players, unproven in the EPL, I'd say Baines is easily worth 20mil.

Moyes also knows him inside out, which places even more value on him, and we know it. Personally I wouldn't sell, but it is inevitable.

At least Southampton still have the main colours in the home kit which i guess was the comprise. I'm still waiting for another team to change totally like us and won't be long in my eyes.

Not saying we'll sign him, but this tweet is bollocks. If you trace the sources back it leads to nothing.

    How about this one?

The ITK stuff gets worse with every transfer window.

People still buy into the shit written on there? Even the 'reliable sources' are just people who have vomited nonsense transfer rumours until one has coincidentally gone through. Then they proceed to act like a billy big bollocks, spewing twice as much bullshit as they did previously because they are 'in the know'.

I've honestly never seen anything so pathetic and desperate in my life.

I quite like our new shirt aside from the gold. With Stoke and Sunderland also having stripes it nice to try something a bit different.

Thiago has tweeted I heart Barcelona with an instagram of him and a mate in Barca.

Would seem likely that he is indeed staying.

Of course he could be just talking about the city in general.

Glad we got Puma (allegedly still?) instead of Addidas. Their kits this year look fucking awful.

Talking of kits, what do Spurs think of their away kit with the HP logo all over it? Personally I think it looks great but I can see why people might not be happy with it.

If it's the one I think you're trying to link, it's a fake as it'd breach all sorts of sponsorship size rules.

Hmm like I said in my post, clutching a bit mate. Think he'll stay after that.

Hope he doesn't but we'll see.
