Di Canio isn't even getting a hard enough time IMO.

Why didn't the Di Canio thing all kick off when he got the Swindon job? (It's because no one cared because it was League 2, isn't it?)

Can't say I agree with the guy's politics, but I'm not at all a fan of wanting him sacked for his views.
    Well.....

Something one of my mates (the one whose illustrations I keep pimping) wrote for WSC. So they didn't all welcome him with open arms.

Edit: appreciate this isn't mass media

    That's not REALLY true.

What he actually said was he could take the comments about his performance and the money he is on, but he wouldn't stand for the racist comments he was receiving. he was particularly offended by an individual calling him a negro.

He was actually pretty decent about the whole thing.

Oh and he's also giving away 2 tickets to the game, a signed shirt and a players meet and greet w/ hospitality package as a wy to apologise.

"Fed up with the money tweets, get over it."

"Tell me what is a 100k performance? See everyone talking about mistakes, like footballers cannot have an off day on the pitch. We are human like all of you. Grow up some of you, please."

Sounds to me like he doesn't like the money and performance comments.

Is that giveaway to every fan? Not much there that the players and club have to spend time or money on. They should do a Hamburg, if Harry is THAT embarrassed.

Hah fair enough, the story yesterday was his tweet ""Just to say I am human and like any others words can be upsetting, the money comments and performance tweets I can deal with to a degree."

So it seems like he has been absolutely battered and has had enough...which I can agree with. I can imagine the amount of nonsense they have to put up with.

The offer was from Samba personally, all you had to do was retweet his thingy (oo er) and I assume he picked from a pool or something. Nothing to do with the club.

As a sidenote I don't really get why footballers interact with people on twitter, they are on a hiding to nothing.

Yeah, agree. Don't understand what they think they are going to get out of tweeting. They know how fickle and nasty fans can be. Best just keep quiet, especially during harsh spells. Ignore the comments.

I always wonder if Twitter works differently for celebrities. I don't use it too much but anything that you type the @username shows up on that persons feed doesn't it?

I've thought they must have like, 2 tabs or something, one for randoms talking at them and one for the people they actually want to follow

Yeah you can set up some clients so that you are notified only when people you follow @ message you. That way you could pretty much ignore the general lump & prole while still using Twitter to interact with people you want to interact with.

On another subject, who would be on the subs bench?:

    Brap, brap, old chap.

Gervinho has scored a goal every 174 minutes in the Premier League this season. Olivier Giroud's record is a goal every 196 minutes.

@Shikasama people complain that footballers are in a world of their own, disconnected from reality.

Then they use social media to talk to their fans and people complain again!

Except they aren't talking to their fans, they're getting involved in petty arguments or making themselves look like complete mongs and getting fined for it.

'Just goin 2 buy my porsche LOL signed mega deal wiv Nike innit' doesn't make them any less disconnected from reality either.

Keane should definitely be pushing for first team football & Bowyer is a good shout.

Bit generous to call Marlon King a Premier League footballer & the other two blatantly not in the same class of cuntery.

    Brap, brap, old chap.

I say given me a great idea, what I actually mean is downright copying this idea

Hehe. It was probably done on the day, but I just noticed that one of my mates fell for the 'Abramovich is doing his coaching badges' April Fool.

He was 'burn my season ticket' angry.

"I am not a racist and I do not support the ideology of fascism"

Statement from Paolo Di Canio: http://bit.ly/108FfSm

Can't quite tell if this is weasely worded, or just the words of a non-native English speaker. On balance, I think it's probably genuine and he should get the benefit of the doubt. For now.

I don't see how it matters.

Believing in a fascist ideology that isn't well understood over here isn't illegal and there is absolutely nothing to suggest he brings it to work with him.

Typical tabloid parasites latching onto anything other than football to talk about.

Well, as I outlined previously, I disagree and think that, in this case, his politics do matter, because he chose to make them public through an autobiography, dodgy salutes in public, and a very questionable tattoo. If I came into work and the bloke next to me had a swastika tattooed across his knuckles, or started going on about how Hitler wasn't all bad, I'd like to think I might have a couple of reservations, pending a clarification or two.

But at the same time, he's now come out and tried to clarify his views, so I think he should probably be given some grace. People make mistakes and are also allowed to change and evolve their views and, the semantic miracle of a non-racist fascist to one side, I think as someone touched on earlier, he's probably just a slightly sweatily confused man who said something idiotic which has come back to bite him in the arse.

If Tevez has got 250 hours community service to complete, what will happen if he leaves the country to play for somebody else.

That's a shit load of time.
