    @robc84 The enchanted ember is in a pool in guarded by 4 Giant mushrooms. It's right after Alvina, before the door to Sif. There's also an armor behind that small staircase.

    Btw, you HAVE to kill Sif, before facing the Three Kings

    Anyone got any tips for O&S on a SL1 run? Just died for about the 5th time in a row on them and cant figure out what to do differently. I've got a lightning battle axe+3, crimson helm and skirt +4 , leather chest +6 and tattered cloth manchette +6. Considering going back to the catacombs to make a chaos hand axe but dont know if that will help at all. Any tips chaps?

    @JonFE Confused. Thought you needed the crest to get to that area? Or is this another way in? I was up here looking for a wolf boss....

    @robc84 You got any tips for me for the bridge dragon? I've still not got around to doing him.

    As has been said, you need to do the Sif garden boss before getting to the boss of NLR. That's not an "optimal choice" type thing: you MUST do it. All will become clear.

    To fight the ghosts, the shinies I mentioned are the transient curses that others have described. Equip them as Quaddy stated (I think it was Ironlungs or Architect who told me) so you can see when they run out. Don't worry: you don't lose half your health and humanity as you would with a real curse.

    Equip your greedy bastard ring as well. You'll get more TCs that way, plus a ghostbusting sword that you can use against them (ironic, eh?), plus you'll want it on for some enemies you meet later who have a chance of dropping some valuable titanite.

    Good luck with it all.

    You can get there via the glowing door or the Basin Hydra's ladder.

    @robc84

    Not so much as the "wrong" way, as the "needlessly-hard" way...

    @robc84 Not the "wrong" way, no, but each route has advantages and disadvantages. I never once managed to beat a single Giant Super Vole, never mind all three :(

    A certain weapon dropped by ghosts now and then is effective against them, so you don't have to use a TC. It's up to you. I +5'd mine and use it rather than TCs more often than not.

    Which one are you going to down first? Gotta be O with your limited SL1 resources, I would imagine.

    So, keep mobile, less than 25% bla bla bla, and consider dung pies, maybe?

    Pyro works well, I'd say upgrade a thingy club, the......argh....reinforced? Is it? Yeah the reinforced club, and add fire-dust...charcoal resin?
    I can't remember the name of anything these days.

    Pyro is your main friend to atleast get one of them down.

    @robc84 Just out of interest, have you explored the area around the glowing door, from AndrÚ's side?

    A nice orange hint informed me of something...

    You mean the hidden bonfire? Yeah got that.

    So am I now just approaching the crest door from the other side? If so not sure how that way is easier.... confused (as per usual!)

    @robc84 Yes, that's what I meant.

    The point about the alternative routes is that you can get all the way to the back of the area (opposite end to where the glowing door is) without encountering the Giant Twatvoles, or without encountering certain more human-like enemies.

    Both are tough, but some folk will find one easier than the other.

    Is it worth me doing both routes anyway?

    @robc84 Whilst I never beat a Volebastard, I used both routes many times to completely rinse the area.

    Somehow I didn't trigger the final boss there on my first visit to his location, but my return yielded the desired (or, let's say "necessary") result.

    Not a difficult fight IMO: I had him first time, and believe you will too.

    Massive pyro and a bit of crossbow action did it for me.

    @robc84

    Since you've already found the bonfire, which takes some of the risk away, I'd say it's worthy knowing (and maybe exploiting) what lies behind the door. It can certainly make the trip to the wolf a bit easier...

    So the crest door is kind of a shortcut that cuts out this area?

    It cuts out some of the area. It also introduces an opportunity...

    @robc84 It's more like the crest door is the front entrance, and the ladder a sneaky way of getting into the cinema through the toilet window, without paying.

    Either way, you're good, but I reckon it is worth paying to open the door.

    20,000 souls is only a few minutes farming at this stage of the game :)

    Well I just got done by an npc up there and his buddies. Not sure what to do now. Go up and get my souls and just come back down or carry on.

    Do I miss anything by going through the crest door instead?
