 Holy fucking crap! What an episode!

A clusterfuck of (greek) epic proportions.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

    That did not just happen...

One of the most uncomfortable-to-watch episodes of a TV show I've seen. She is pure evil (but you can appreciate why given the character's history).

It's so morbid now - far more complex than a simple story about politics and prohibition - and there is not one character who you can class as nice and normal (they all at the every least know something), with perhaps the exception of Esther Randolph.

Masterstroke how they've used Gillian in this season. She was little more than a peripheral character earlier on who was little more than over-bearing. But in truth she's the puppet-master who is responsible for most of Jimmy's problems.

There are so many plot strings now that are all going to be tied up in the season finale. It's all come together quite brilliantly.

Oh dear god, I'd agree - probably the most uncomfortable thing I've watched. What a slow build up too. It filled in the gaps - as did Jimmy.

    she is hawt though

I really enjoyed this season, much better than the last.

Damn, that was a great season ending episode.

Best show on TV after Game Of Thrones.

Aghhhhh! I keep coming into this thread because I adore Boardwalk Empire but you're obviously all watching it at the US pace so I keep reading spoilers.

When you can't see the angles on the wall you're in trouble.

    Fucking hell!

    End of season spoilers

Nucky has always been a decent bloke until the ten minutes of this weeks episode. Jimmy was becoming a sympathetic character over the last few episodes. Nelson looks like he's gone for a while too.

I really didn't expect that, why did he let off Ely instead of Jimmy?

Anyone thinking the first series is a bit slow should stick with it for the second.

Just watched the finale of season 2. Brilliant series overall bit gutted about Jimmy :( thought he was a great character. Makes me wonder what's gonna happen to Richard and the milf now. Every character in this is acted brilliantly. Hope the third series is out soon.

The DVD for this costs 28, is it worth that price as I'm considering buying it.

Is that for both series? If so that's a good price I think. I really enjoyed it.

probably because Ely can be controlled, he is whipped, and family. Whereas Jimmy would always be smart (and strong) enough to take over if the mood took him.

But maybe Nucky could tell that he was lost to the poppy after what happened?

Just the first season, it does seem a lot of money for what is only 12 episodes.

Is this thread 'US pace' as I don't know where its at on SKY and dont want to spoilerize. Looking at sky atlanatic web page, it appears to not mention season 2 at all

Cool. I watched the season 2 finale last night. I don't know if that final act has darkened nuckys character too much, it was always possible to see some good in him, but that was quite ruthless, I did not see that coming. God knows what he's going to do to Father Brennan now.

    I liked the ending.

I think the point is that this series we've mostly seen Nucky as Margaret sees him, so as he's gradually convinced her he's a reformed character that's what we start to think as well.

But then at the end he reminds us that he's not really changed at all and it's mostly an act.

I thought she was fine for the type of character she was playing. And she got her kit off a lot. Whats not to like. Still the character had served its purpose so I can see why they have not bought her back.

Wow, really enjoyed these two series. I read on Wiki the producers are now making a series 3. I hope they don't overdo it unless of course the story arc hasn't been completed.. Everything was so well realised, from costumes to characters.

So did anyone catch the season premiere?

I thought it was a really great episode that sets things up nicely for the rest of the season. Couple of surprises towards the end as well.
