    This new video looks great.

Edge gave this 8 and sounds brilliant, I'm going to pick up the original on the weekend as really want this sequel.

Makes companion a.i. comparisons to bioshock infinite Elizabeth as well as saying the world is better realised.

Also says each new combat environment is like it's own puzzle which can always be approached in many ways.

Weather effects outside too like having to wipe your visor when raining and keeping track of your air filter and changing when required.

Only a few niggles keep it from a 9.

Better with sound off but looks great.

I can't describe how excited I am about this game. 2033 is one of my all time favourite videogames. I was afraid Last Light might be a buggy unfinished mess, given the THQ problems, but 8/10 on Edge has tipped me into pre-order territory - and I NEVER preorder.

Looks impressive again, bit like a Left 4 Dead set piece at the end. I hope it runs decently though. I haven't ever really played the previous one as I haven't bothered to get into the ini hacks to get v-sync in and whatnot.

It's got 8/10 in the latest Edge for the PC version.

    Edit: already posted by pepsi

    Looks decent.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

    It's preloading on Steam!

Greenmangaming are doing it for 26.25 including the Ranger DLC and a digital comic set between the games.

So, is it right that there is a $5 charge for Hard mode? Seems a very odd decision if it comes about.

So gonna get this (sometime after I finish the first, currently stuck and skint IRL anyway)

The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine.

Personally, there's no way I'm playing it in Ranger (very hard) mode. Although, I have pre-ordered so I'll have it anyway. However, I do think that having it as paid DLC is really dumb. Pretty sure it was the same with 2033 (although it wasn't day one).

I do expect, however, that LL will be one of those games where the limited edition hangs around for ages.

It's a shame that Ranger mode isn't there as standard and is back as DLC/slung in as a LE bonus.

I never purchased ranger mode the first time around and Metro 2033 is one of my favourite games this gen. I guess that they are trying to make some sort of money when the game ends up being sold 2nd hand.

As a huge fan of the first game, and as much as I wanted my impressions to be wrong about this, every video/interview/preview etc for Last Light has left me cold. I was excited when it was announced, and since then they've steadily reduced my enthusiasm to nil with every trailer.

Seven isn't a bad score of course, but reading the EG review doesn't make me want to play it, and I absolutely loved 2033. Last Light never looked like the sequel I hoped for and sadly it sounds like it's not. Bugger.

fwiw, totalbiscuit loves it and gives a fairly decent impression on his latest WTF.

I'm not put off in the slightest by EG's review, I loved the original so LL will be all good with me :)

    Shame he's a complete bell-end.

Personally quite like the sound of it being brought more in line with the mainstream a touch. The original was more than a bit clunky.

    Edge 8 = awesome.
Pretty much any game I've ever played that has a 7 or higher from edge has been excellent.
EG, whilst having some excellent reviews, are all over the place. You never know what you might see at the bottom of the review after reading the text. Far cry 3 a 10 ffs.

Only if you've got mental issues. At no point during my Far Cry 3 playthrough did I think "this is 10/10 quality".

Far cry 3 was so good that it is one of the only games in twenty plus years of gaming that I have given up on.

Far Cry 3 is an odd one for me. The beginning is easily worth a 10/10 but the more you play the easier it gets and it soon becomes boring as a result. I'm currently trying to force myself to see it through to completion.

Back on topic, a 7 from EG is slightly dissapointing for me but I'm not going to be able to get Last Light for a couple more months anyway. Plus, I still have 2033 to finish!

Atmosphere and story, yes. This is still Metro that is worth playing. Just the technical aspects seem a little wtf:

Limited graphic options, can't window it. The shadows feel like...they're not as good as they were in Metro 2033. I dunno, maybe I'm missing something but I shine my flash-light on anna and she isn't creating a shadow from it. That seems like basic stuff from very high settings on FPS games these days. Been a while since I played Metro 2033 but LL doesn't feel like it has advanced in anything at a visual level.

At another point I managed to crash the game that I just got the 'console'. Where it just spat out info to me like xbox_state_data.

And meh about the hurt over marketing speak to sell ranger mode. A real minority even bothered playing it in Metro 2033 and even less managed to finish it, it isn't a necessary aspect to play the game; only for hardcore junkies.

There is still 'hardcore' difficulty in normal mode. Ranger mode just takes away HUD, supporting info and just enhance hardcore to a ridiculous point. It isn't a must-have, just like it never was a must-have in 2033. Pointless to rage over it.

When's this out? Had a look for it in Morrisons, HMV, Game and local independent store- nowt to be had. I'm guessing I jumped the gun a bit!

This. I've been WTF-ing for ages over this. There are few games I play in hardcore, let alone some crazy ultra-hardcore mode.
