    Paul Ross or beastmaster?

I don't buy paper magazines theses days, a waste of money, not to mention having to store the things, oh and save the tree's etc. I flicked through a movie magazine today while killing time and spotted some shots of the new Robo-cop film. My first thoughts on the outfit were - Batman without ears

    That trailer looks remarkably average.
Why does the Black suit look like it's made out of cheap painted foam? There's no weight to it at all,he doesn't look 'part machine', it just looks like Snake Eye's armour from the shitty GI Joe flicks.
The Silver effort looks slightly better, but it would appear that's coming off quick sharpish.
One thing it does have is a decent cast, maybe they'll make it bearable.

I'm gonna go against the trend here, I liked it.

But a key to why I liked it is because I put the scenes in the trailer with the leaked script I read months back, which is a good sign. If the script remains in tact, which is debatable, I believe the Director has the chops to make this a great film....so long as the execs don't ruin it.

For instance, the car explosion and no Boddicker makes sense in the story their trying to tell and why that happened (not because of the violence).

Essentially, the film is about the bit in between when he gets shot in the original, and when he becomes Robo. Its essentially the story of them going through different iterations as his human nature keeps taking over the machine side, so they have to continuously update him till he becomes less and less human and full robo, whilst still trying to keep the illusion to the city he's still "human".

Its certainly an interesting take, and I loved the original. Heck as I kids I cried when the entire police department shot him in the car park.

The only thing I'm worried they'll get rid of is the satire.

WRT 'what happened to lewis?', she became black, male and shot by the looks of it.

The film doesnt really need her anymore since his wife is filling the, well, wife role.

I thought Kate Beckinsale was actually the best part of the movie... Which shows how shit it was!
She's fit but she knows it, and she's also one of the most wooden 'actors' I've ever seen. To me it's pretty obvious why she turns up mostly only in her husband's films. I doubt anyone else would have her unless an exec with $$$ signs in his eyes forced it.

Still, I bet my dislike for her is nothing compared to Rhona Mitra, who probably sees Beckinsale as The Woman With The Career I Was Supposed To Have.

    lol

It was a reasonably decent popcorn action film with a veneer of satire and a slightly overblown Jesus metaphor, not a philosophical treatise on humanity. It also spawned horrendous sequels and eventually an even more horrendous TV series, so this is a step up from those, at least.
Personally, a shitty sequel and a shitty remake belong in the same bag.

I'm with you on that, I really don't get the hate on the second one. Sure, it's dark, bleak and utterly miserable... but I liked that about it :D

The third does NOT exist mind... nope...

I think trailer is scary and something makes me feel there is a videogames influence, maybe it's the sexified violence, which seems odd, but gamers are familiar with it.

A good cast at least. I would prob watch at home.
Popfact, Robocop was the first 18 rated film I saw at the Cinema, I was 15 at the time.

Commando was my first 18, I was 15 as well, I doubt Commando would be an 18 these days.

This looks better than the sequels. But we don't even know if it's any good yet or not.

Is anyone else getting a bit bored with remastered games? Read my thoughts!

Even without watching it, I can GURANTEE it will be better than Robocop 3, and all the straight to video releases after that (remember, one of them had a Robocop in black....so we know where that idea came from, lol).

I think it looks fucking awful. The original really should have been complete bollocks, but Verhoeven handled it perfectly. Everything that's followed that has been borderline unwatchable shite, & this sadly looks like continuing that trend.

Still, however it turns out, it can't be any worse than Robocop 2.

Anyone remember the TV Series where he had a little girl for a friend and a ghost as a sidekick?

Or the cartoon series where Robocop is a ginger

    Fucking hell, it's all terrible.

The "dead or alive, you're coming with me" line couldn't possibly have been done worse and everything else is rubbish too.

    Urrrghh.
