    Quick question:

I've just got me a new Jasper Elite to replace my ageing Core. I stuck a 120gb drive on the Core last year replacing the 20gb drive that i had since launch (in fact didnt i donate the 20gb to someone on here last year?) - I used the transfer cable and software to migrate my stuff from the 20 to the 120, all went well....

Now, when i use the same kit to attempt to copy stuff from my older 120gb to my new elite 120gb, the software expects a 20gb drive to be present and thus wont work. I know youre all going to ask me why would i want to do that as the drives are the same size. Its colouring! The elite drive is black, and the regular drive is that grey/blue colour.

Anyone know if the new kits that MS are shipping out support 120gb to 120gb transfers, or is it the same version of the disc that's included in the regular 120gb drives?

This doesnt look like it does, and i was less than thrilled with the techie that i spoke to on the phone, what with an answer of "It should be fine."

    Cheers
    Shmoo.

You can't use the kits to transfer between two 120GB drives. If you want to move your saves you'll have to buy/borrow a memory card.

Jumping into the discussion: where can one get a transfer kit? Does MS still send them out on request?

Just a quick update on this, the newer transfer kits that MS are sending out DO allow transfer from any drive to any other drive providing that the destination is not smaller than the source.

    20GB > 20GB
    20GB > 60GB
    20GB > 120GB
    60GB > 60GB
    60GB > 120GB
    120GB > 120GB

Theres an MS KB article here

Bear - you can get the transfer kits by downloading, printing and filling out this form. All it costs is the price of a stamp, and turnaround for me was less than one week from posting to delivery. Note that the above PDF is for the UK only.

I know I bought the 120 kit on amazon and the instructions said you could only use it once.
I just threw it out once I was done.

I sent off my form to get a transfer kit four weeks ago and have not received anything yet. I understand the mail strikes would delay it but four weeks is taking the piss some what.

Does anyone have a number for xbox support that puts you through to an actual person rather than an unhelpful automated machine?

All the eurogamers who actually play with each other on xbl rather than just post pseudointellectual pc handwringing bollocks on the forums, love the shit out of biggy.

You can also go from 120 gb to 250 gb with the latest kit

Also worth noting that any XBox 1 DLC is corrupted in the transfer process & as the DLC servers are now switched off, cannot be re downloaded, and data on your old drive will be wiped

This is helpful to me as *ahem* I'm gradually running out of space on my 120GB. The more you use on these MS HDDs the utterly laggier the thing gets. It takes WAY too long to bring up my full XBLA games list.

If you can read this, you don't need glasses.

I've just got a 120gb drive off eBay so don't have an elite serial no. to request a cable from Microsoft. Does anyone have a transfer cable they'd be prepared to lend me? I'd happily send it straight back once i'm finished. cheers!

    Hi all,

Exact same problem here - just got myself a new 120GB drive off ebay but no transfer cable, and really not wanting to pay a tenner for a one off transfer...

Any help from anyone would be 'greatly' appreciated - I'll pay P+P each way!

Muzzy, are you going from a 20gb to a 120 gb HDD?

If you are, I can help. My kit ONLY works with 20gb to 120 gb. I need one that works 120gb to 250gb. This has now been sorted thanks to Lexx.

I'm sending my cable out to 1 forumite, who is then sending it to another. I don't see why the 2nd person can't send it on to you, and you can send it back to me. It['ll be about a fortnight mind... ?

    Hi all,

Just passing around a bit of information that may be useful to people in similar situations as myself - I went into my local Gamestation to see what they had in terms of cables, and they offered to do my transfer for me - for FREE.

All I had to do was take in my 2 hard drives, and they did the rest. Brilliant! Hope others can use this instead of paying for the use.

Bought my third 360 today and would be most appreciative if somebody could lend me a transfer kit or suggest a way to get one quickly through retail.

    Thanks.
