Just go here and do the test, then post your best speed and mention afew details. (ISP, connection type, router, ect.)

It would be interesting to see what speed other people with the same ISP get in particular.

    Mine,
    Down: 16.7Mb/s
    Up: 0.7Mb/s
    ISP: Virgin Media
    Connection type: Wifi N
    Router: Airport extreme base station.

Just use the 3G network, oh wait... you don't have that either.

The upgrade actually costs £80 although you do receive a Netgear N router and a Netgear USB N dongle.

    Down: 46.44 Mb/s
    Up: 1.64 Mb/s
    ISP Vigin Media
    Connection Type: Wired
    Router: Netgear WNR 2000

This site gives better speed test results.

I don't even have Channel 5 here, which I suppose could be considered a blessing in disguise.

£30 fucking activation and £50 for the installation of the new N modem and don't get me started about the fucking brain dead engineer. What ever happened to the self-install policy? I know when my other modem couldn't handle the 20mbs broadband I was sent an upgrade modem without an additional charge.
