We’ve just taken the lid off Kaos Studios’ next game – Homefront. It was formally announced this morning, but you can expect to see some media and impressions hitting the web later today / tomorrow, we’ll update as and when it hits…

“The year is 2027. The world has suffered a decade-long energy crisis, and economies have crumbled. Reduced to a mere shadow of the super power it once was, the United States became the target of a North Korean takeover. American malls, suburbs and city streets are now battlegrounds as the civilian resistance fights for freedom. In a land stripped of freedom, the brave will fight for their home.”

Game, or prediction of the future?

    YOU DECIDE.

The signs aren't good for me. Shite cliche story, more FPS.

In a way it's perhaps a good thing, cos then gameplay is the only saviour it can have, as everything else is generic. If it's good then kudos.

Is this a sequel to Frontlines?

"IN A WORLD WHERE REAL VALUES HAVE BEEN FORGOTTEN...

... IN A TIME OF HARDSHIP AND STRUGGLE...

... ONE MAN WILL FIGHT FOR WHAT HE LOVES..

... AND FOR THE FREEDOM HIS GREAT COUNTRY HAS LOST..."

    ".... HERO... FIGHER... LOVER...
... THIS FALL EXPERIENCE THE GREATEST ACTION/LOVE/SCI-FI/WILL SMITH/ADVENTURE STORY YOU'VE EVER SEEN.."

    Yeah it sounds turd.

Sounds like FUEL. Only with guns instead of cars. And just as likely to be a pile of arse.

    North Korea invading America?

    ...

This plot wasn't really thought through, was it?

I'm not really sure this was the kind of reaction the kindly and polite THQInsider was looking for, either.

I dunno. there are only like 270 million more people in america than North Korea. Sounds feasible.

I bet it's another rogue NK commander behind it all again.

I'd be curious as to what sort of situation the world would have to be in to allow NK to actually get a speed boat to the shores of LA, let alone a full blown invasion.

    Red Dawn was implausible enough.

It's clearly ill thought out. Jack Bauer would have stopped it in it's tracks long before there was a war.

It's exactly the sort of warmongering rhetoric right-wing America likes to pander to. North Korea is a rogue state, but not one that threatens America. Doesn't stop everyone coming up with the sleight-of-hand that makes it appear so (and thus justify potential military action on America's part), including this game.

Shame Frontlines didn't take off, looked groovy.

LB, you really are a massive geek.

Aliens from planet Buttfuck conquering the USA is more realistic than the DPRK doing it.

    This space left intentionally blank.

Dunno about the console versions, but the PC version of Frontlines didn't work at all. You died in practically two shots which didn't really help considering the speed/accuracy of the mouse. Was nice when you wade through about 5 people in a single AR clip, but it was just too easy to kill/be killed.

Fictional settings are fine (Red Alert, Fallout) just make the backstory or reasons for the universe at least believeable.

It should be noted that Red Alert used time travel and sounds more realistic.

Well Russia and China are the only states with the manpower and weapons to tackle USA, anything else is just silly.

Maybe the UK should considering taking down France, Spain and Germany in an addon.

I look forward to a Kaos Studios football game where a member of the Combined Counties League, wins the Champions League, the Europa League, FA and Carling Cups in one season while in administration and with a squad of six players.

Are these six players disable in some way, or the even more underdog... women?

If your team gets too boisterous then a little fella with "MCM" on his t-shirt runs on to the pitch with a nuke strapped to his head, and nuts your captain full in the face to show him who's boss.

No they're perfectly fit, they're just able to get around the rule that a football team forfeits the match if they drop to seven players.
