I remember in my first year at uni the Complete Stone Roses played and loads of people I knew went and bought tickets thinking that they were seeing the "complete" Stone Roses on their triumphant comeback tour.

I tried to tell them, but they were adament that they were going to see the original band.

And I bet these new rumours are false.

Well, I hope they weren't too disappointed. I've seen the CSRs twice and they are great!!

Not as nice as I used to be

As much as I loved the Roses, Brown's singing of late has been fucking attrocious. Yes, even more so than ever before, which is a bit of a worry for how they'd sound.

I'll probably go if they do play, it's not like it'd be masses of cash. And anyway, I saw them in the heyday.

I didn't really like the Stone Roses for the singing, though. It was alright, but hardly the star of the show.

Problem is that Brown has the highest profile/biggest ego, so he'll demand his vocals will be high in the mix and ruin everything.

The Roses meant everything to me as a teenager, but I just can't see this being any cop at all.

    Bingo.

The Roses meant everything to me as a teenager, but I just can't see this being any cop at all.

    Exactly.

On the plus side, I've seen several bands who I loved as a youngster again recently, and it's been really good. I fear this'd be the one to break the trend.

I can see why you'd be interested if you didn't see 'em in in the early 90s, but be prepared for it to be rather terrible, in-it-for-the-money gigs, imo...

I've seen the tribute band The Complete Stone Roses quite a few times.

They can fill out Manchester Academy 1 which holds around 2000 people. They're pretty fucking good too. There's another tribute band The Clone Roses but I've not heard them.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

Brown has always been a dreadful vocalist live. I imagine they'd autotune the fuck out of it

that's what John Squire thought too, but their guitar heavy second album didn't set the world on fire, while a couple of "Ian Brown talky-singing" albums did set fire to at least small parts of it (which he then tried to smoke).

Yes, well. I can only speak for myself. I Am the Resurrection (still my favorite) only really gets good once the vocals stop.

    Wasn't brilliant was it.

The Second Coming was mostly written by just Squire wasn't it?

I wonder if Reni still knows his way around a drum kit?

Drummers do tend to lose their chops if they aren;t doing it live all the time.

He's gotten much worse, by all accounts.

And the 2nd half doesn't make me want to see it any more.

This is definitely not happening according to Mani. Apparently all that happened is that Brown and Squire met when they went to Mani's mother's funeral.
