The band were fucking awesome, I saw them way back and they were much better on Friday than they ever were.

If you didn't get in the pit area i don't think you would have heard Brown at all over the karaoke. Perfect last night, i was expecting out of key shouting but naw, spectacular surprise(even with 3 days of pish mud underfoot).

It is, unless you get a congregation of Oasis or similar fans. At which case it's all flipflops, midlength shorts and stupid cunt hats.

Ian Brown can't sing for shit. Live he's bad when doing the Roses and horrific with his own stuff.

    Still, they were brilliant.

Saw Made of Stone last night. Probably the best music film I have ever seen... but then in all honesty, there haven't been many made about bands I love. Well worth seeing.

Awesome. Heading to the Isle of Wight Festival on Fri to see them. On my own (wife couldn't go because of child care, no mates locally are interested) and I can't fucking wait. Will be odd, as the festival is normally the chance for some QT without kids but jobs way I was going to miss them on my doorstep!

I wish I could have gone again on Saturday! Would have drunk less and made a concious effort to get closer to the front.
I've heard comments about sound quality and Ian's singing, but it was all great for me. I was singing it all myself so barely heard Ian at all! And when has a band playing live ever really had *that good* sound quality???

Also saw a rumour that they might do a DVD of the gig, based on the fact that they did exactly the same setlist and all wore the same clothes both nights. Would be good if true.

Surprisingly, the sound is usually meant to be good at live gigs. Otherwise why would they bother playing live?

Agreed. But criticising Ian Brown's singing is daft, we all know he can't sing. It's not about his vocals at all. Can't wait. The only draw back is that I can't go mental on the booze as I have to drive at 8am for a wedding. Grr.

Earplugs improve the sound quality of most gigs tenfold.

For the atmosphere, the chance to see your heroes in the flesh, the fact that they might play some extra material.
Also, if you can sell 100,000 tickets in a matter of hours why wouldn't you play - must be pretty lucrative.
Perhaps it's hard to explain, but in my limited experience, the sound quality at a gig is nothing like listening to something recorded in a studio. They sound different but are both great for different reasons.

I guess there's also a difference between the sound quality inside and outside?? Only other outdoor gig I've been to was GnR at Wembley Stadium. I can't really remember what the sound was like - I do remember the elation I felt at being there though.

(I'm probably over kalel's limit for acceptable post length now, so I'll stop.)

Yeah, TBF, the sound quality is much worse at festivals etc than smaller gigs. But that's the trade off for making oodles of cash

Seriously if you haven't got earplugs get some. They make everything sound so much better and they stop your ears from getting destroyed.

These are decent enough and well worth the money: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Docs-Pro-Plugs-Clear/dp/B004C6H6XM

I upgraded to these though, good for playing in a band: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Alpine-Music-Safe-Filter-Plugs/dp/B000VO8PR0/ref=pd_sim_ce_4

The live version of Fools Gold was about 15 minutes long. Faster and more jammier than the 12inch. Saw them on Friday.

Ian Brown's singing was outstandingly bad. Mani looked like a zombie but his bass was great and the other two were on top form.

A lot of the tracks they did at their gigs were longer and funkier. Love Spreads was another one. I'd like them to do a recording of those.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

Do you have Crimson Tonight? The live EP of a couple of Second Coming tracks recorded in Ireland. Well worth seeking out imo.

If I were to post the last hour or so of the Glasgow Green concert, recorded out of my window, on Soundcloud (probably with the sound of me typing this in the background) no-one would mind, right?
