The Avengers movie is happening, but has been delayed a year so it doesn't clash with Spider-Man 4.

AICN reckon Jon Favreau is directing, which is good news, he did a great job with Iron Man. Be a shame if those rumours about Samuel L. Jackson possibly not playing Nick Fury are true, though. He's perfect and they've set it up with his cameo at the end of Iron Man.

Would be ridiculous if it didn't have Samuel L Jackson in it. They've been working on that since the Ultimates comic came out.

I agree. The story was they'd not offered him enough money, but the same thing was being said about Favreau not coming back for Iron Man 2, so hopefully that's either bullshit or Marvel will come to their senses.

Marvel finance the films themselves now, that's why there's a far higher Success/Fail rate. New punisher film anyone?

Samual L. Jackson has signed onto do 9 Marvel movies, including Iron Man 2, Thor, Avengers, Captain America and possible sequels.

Punisher: War Zone is a fucking bloodbath. And it's great fun.

Wouldn't recommend it to, say, a fan of French New Wave or owt, mind.

    :D

I kind of guessed but went ahead anyway. Was it Uma Thurman? I seem to remember she was mighty fine.

Yeah, they're not farming it out to Fox now, doing it themselves. Going pretty well so far, Iron Man was great, Hulk was okay. Punisher was poor, I blame that on whoever messed Thomas Jane around until he got fed up.

There's never been an Avengers live action movie. There was a Captain America, though, (starring the son of J. D. Salinger) which was crap.

Joss Whedon is the lead contender to direct The Avengers.

I love Joss but Im not sure if he is the best option for this.

I dunno, he's great at doing ensemble pieces, and Serenity showed he could do big budget action/adventure well. I'd trust him more than a lot of people to do a good Avengers movie.

Nah, Whedon is great at doing big casts. After Firefly/Serenity, the guy is my hero.

    I prefer to ignore Dollhouse.

Yeah, he's a great choice. His ensemble work is brilliant. If you think he can't do action, then look at the River Tam fight scene in the bar in Serenity, or the space scenes. This should be a cracker.
