Wow, I can't believe so many people agree on LBP. I was expecting maybe one person to agree with me, given it's held in such esteem by press and players. It makes you wonder why at least a small handful games magazines/websites don't feel the same way.

It really is one if those games with a lot to like about it, and that you want to like, but just isn't very fun to play.

I'll try out the community levels anyway out of curiosity, and the level editor.

Ive never liked LBP. What do I win?

Its got all the right ingredients, whimsy, stephen fry, whimsy, user levels shaped like cocks and whimsy but the platforming is shit.

Same goes for little big planet karting, which is also rubbish.
    A nice big hug.

I didn't get as far as community levels with LBP. Like JayG, I was excited to finally try a LBP game, especially as a lover of platforming games but the floaty design really left me cold. Really couldn't get past it.

Once you get to community levels there's loads where you aren't playing as Sackboy. In the editor weight/gravity/speed etc can be edited too so you will find a lot of levels with amended platforming. It's more a creativity tool than a platformer though, to amaze you what people can create.

Little big planet has terrible gameplay. Floaty and mostly way too easy or difficult because of bad design.

That said it a wonderful looking experience and i enjoy it to discover whats around the next corner. The community levels can be a real joy.

@rumblesushi you've hit the nail on the head there. I really want to love it, and always buy the bladdy things, but never actually get a great deal of enjoyment out of them.

They're much better in co op, preferably with a child or younger sibling.

The trouble with LBP on the Vita, and before it on the psp, is that the campaign is short and not very good. This was not the case on the PS3. Having a lacklustre single player mode hurts the game a lot imo.
Whilst the user community has its moments, it's very rare that those levels can engage like one the devs have put together.

I count myself as a LBP fan (have played all 4 versions) and consider the Vita version to be the best overall.

I get the gripes about the platforming, but as a level/game creation tool - it's seriously excellent. It does require considerable time top be invested in it to get something half decent. The quality of some of the community levels is staggering, but then these people must have masses of time on their hands.

I just didn't find it very fun. It was much slower than other platformers I've played and suffered from some really annoying control mechanisms too. I knew it had great content creation tools but as a bare game it left me wanting.

@Flying_Pig Not sure I can agree with that. Nothing compares to four player LBP on the same sofa!

How's the Vita d-pad with fighters?

Quite tempted by Injustice as I'm more likely to sit and play it on my Vita than I did on my 360.
Good, yeah. The only problem is that the shoulder bumpers arent brilliant and there arent two inline shoulder buttons, so you have to use L for something, which isnt ideal but the d-pad itself is fine.
I'd also add that while the d-pad is pretty damn excellent for fighters (certainly in Blazblue, anyway), it is very easy to keep nudging the left stick while inputting motions (particularly specials). It's something that I needed a bit of time to adjust to.

@Ror1984 I agree. The left stick just a tad bit too close.

My only problem with the vita is the shoulder buttons feel a bit imprecise. It feels like there should be just a bit more click to them.

I'm another one who doesn't get Little Big Planet either. But I am excited for Tearaway. I never learn, basically.

LBP is a creation tool as much as (maybe more than) a game, Tearaway is purely a game. I don't think you can judge it too much based on LBP.

    Portable view - Never forget.

A welcome relief that you guys have put my thoughts on LBP into words at last.

I admire it a lot and speak well of it to other people but it just feels very much like an average platformer.

Tearaway i've played though and I can't bloody wait.

Depends on the game. Most games which are common across both platforms are cross-buy - like Hotline Miami, but there are exceptions like Oddworld Stranger's Wrath.

    AFAIK you can't accidently re-buy a cross-buy title.

Personally I prefer a lot of the community's designs. Not from "newest" or sections like that, but "most played" or "team picks" is more often than not a gem.

Hrm... so very, very tempted by Injustice GOTY but its only 21 on the PC from zavvi and I will be able to use my arcade stick with it.

But then... is that outweighed by the sheer amount of extra time im going to get playing it on the vita?

Is anyone else getting this? (i mean the game, not this specific problem)

Hmmm... I said earlier this year that fighting games weren't really for me. Couldn't get on with Blazblue or DOA5 - the two most appealing to me so pledged to never buy another. Now, they're two games I keep looking at rebuying so I won't discount Injustice out of hand ;-)

Is it just me, or has there not been a instant games collection update for Vita in a while now?
