How wide a net does NEAR cast? Every time I turn my Vita on I have a larger number of users around me (63 last night). If that's just in my very local vicinity then it seems great (was only 10-15 when I got the Vita) but if that's scanning the whole of Leeds it's piss-poor ;-P

The board is really quiet today. Is everyone busy with GTAV or something?

@Rhythm Think it is a couple of miles at most. If you travel though it will download stuff on your travels (assuming you take it with you).

@aros I'm guessing so, it was dead from about 5pm yesterday.

    For the emperor!

@Rhythm I think it's only a mile (the radar image thing claims the outermost distance is 0.8 miles). Where I am in Leeds at time of writing there are 14 people online thought I have seen more.

My PSN ID is michaelf-74, btw

As there were three GTA games on the PSP, it's not beyond the realm of possibility. Go on Rockstar, make San Andreas Stories for the Vita.

It was 84 for me a couple of days ago, it's weird though as it jumps from anywhere between 20 and 95. I'm surprised Northampton has more players than Leeds, the most I see in the radar bit is about 15 - 20 too so I'm not sure where the others are coming from.

Just set it to update automatically once a day in settings. It's interesting to see what people nearby are playing.

I currently have 26 Near hits. (I am in a small town in China).

Ragnarok Odyssey is particularly popular here.

River City Ransom 2 has a PS4/Vita stretch goal, but confusingly the Vita version would be through PSMobile. Very odd. Can anyone think of a reason for this? Seems it would be native on PS4.

I was thinking about GTAV on PS4 (assuming it would appear eventually) being streamed to my Vita, got excited then thought, how on earth would I shoot while driving...

Still doesn't work for me. Worked once when I first got my Vita, then never again. I've tried everything.

Bought a Vita last weekend, the Killzone Mercenary pack for 199 with an 8GB card.

It's very nice, first new gaming thing I've bought in 3 years. I like the touch screen thing on the back of the display as well, it's very cool technology overall.

Machinarium = awesome game. PS Plus subscription = what a great service. 40 minutes of Gran Turismo on the way home from work is flipping great :)

edit: Good point Murbs. Once it releases even if you did only want a 32 everyone will be selling their one.

Is there a thread for Atelier Mururu? How are you guys finding it? I'm interested but feel worried I don't know enough about the game to pay so much for a download and not have the cart and box for my collection.

Yup. Makes more sense. Or you could wait until next year when the shiny new version of Rorona will be out.

Arland trilogy order = Rorona, Totori, Meruru.

From reading a review it just talked about the population sim aspects - is there all the standard RPG aspects as well such as combat, exploration etc?

    @aros

The Arland trilogy is focused on the alchemy, and to a variable extent time management (the original Rorona was stricter than the others). You kill monsters primarily to get items for alchemy and to explore further, and you explore (little-ish areas that you can travel to and are connected by an overworld dot-map) primarily to get items for alchemy and find more areas to explore.

The overall goal of the main characters varies (for example, Rorona's is to keep the shop from being closed down, while Totori's is to find her mum), but alchemy, exploring, fulfilling quests and developing character relationships is what you'll be doing for the main part in all of the games.

Combat generally involves the main character (the alchemy apprentice) bopping enemies on the head, guarding, or using items she's crafted (bombs, etc.), while her two companions attack with their respective weapons or use skills while guarding or augmenting the attacks of the alchemist (they can't use weapons unless they are also alchemists). It's pretty fun.
